Do you have any advice for the first post I should make on my RP Blog? I've never done RP before; this is my first blog. It's an AU version of a canon character. Anyways, do you have any advice? Thank you

Personally, I would say that it’s good to make your first post an Open rp, so that people checking out your blog can have an idea of your writing style! And since you’re doing a canon divergent muse, I’d suggest having the About section somewhere on your blog ready before you start following people. That way, when they check you out they can clearly see the differences between your muse and their canon counterpart.

That’s all I can think of at the moment, but please feel free to reach out to me outside of anon if you’d like more specific advice! Good luck with your blog, have fun writing and don’t get discouraged if you don’t get a huge response from others right away! It can take some time but it’s worth it. <3

Guys seriously, before asking another person if they want to role play have an idea in mind of what you would like to do. After all, you’re the one asking so it shouldn’t be the other person’s job to come up with the idea.

in an rp should you always plot with someone before you reply to their starter? or can you just reply?

I just answered a similar question here. But I’d like to add that of course the “just jump right ahead” approach is only for the open starters in the groups general starter tag. Sometimes people post starters specifically for one or two other characters. They usually tag those with the characters names, though. Those are, of course, off limits.

Hey there darling!

I assume we’re talking among the indie community? I think the most important thing is to go even further back and say - always check the blog of the person whose starter you consider replying to, especially if you didn’t find their starter in the open tags but through other means/by chance. Checking their blog is always the best thing. See what their rules are, if they have maybe things listed that are important for potential roleplay partners (major dislikes/triggers) and usually, in my experience, you will also find a comment or two about how they like to conduct their business, so to speak.

Some like to go fully with the flow and there, I would say - go, reply away! Some others though, prefer to know a tiny bit about who is behind the character. I know personally I always preferred just a short hello to get a short impression of the writer even without any further plotting taking place. And then there are those that resolutely state they prefer and need to plot stuff out before they really get going. It always comes down to writing style, shipping style (and that platonic or romantic) and development style.

A good rule of thumb, I think, is to always check the blog first and, if further in doubt, shoot a quick message. Just a “Hey, I’m XXX, really like what I’ve seen of your char and will hop on that starter. Great to meet you!”

Now, if we’re talking group RP’s, the starters in the groups starter tag are definitely always free to jump on without prior plotting.

what do you think is the age range jack falahee could play?

Hey there Nonnie!

Good question. He is 27 now, but I would say he looks a little younger than his age, so I’d put the middle ground at 25 years and go up and down 5 years tops? So between 20 and 30. I think he looks too mature to pull off a high school student, but University probably fits him best.
