Vegas took one last look in the mirror, smoothing her hands along the skirt of her dress to fix imaginary wrinkles that kept her mind busy. Sam had already left to get himself ready (and likely get high with Phoebe to ease his own nerves about seeing a certain someone), leaving with a kiss on her hand and promises that she was going to do absolutely fine and that she looked beautiful. She felt beautiful, and fortunate to have friends for perhaps the first time in her life that were willing to do frivolous things with her like go dress shopping for fancy parties and help her do her hair. For the first time in a long time, she felt supported and loved, and though she worried she was pushing her luck to dare and ask for more, she felt confident enough to actually try for something out of her typically lonesome routine.. Vegas Adelaide was on a mission to secure the attention of her somewhat-roommate, not-really-boyfriend, Kae Byeong.

Taking a final look, she nodded a reassurance to herself and headed for the stairs. It had taken some convincing to get Byeong to agree to go, but she had never been to a fancy party before and she was excited about the idea of going as his date. She loved Kyu and he had been more than entertaining and considerate while she healed after the attack, but it was hard to grasp what was going on with she and bossman with a kiddo in the mix. All he wanted to do was play with his new roomie and keep her there forever.... but she wasn’t exactly sure if that’s what Byeong wanted or if he was just being kind and humoring his child. She was terrified of ruining the happy medium they had established, but she didn’t dare stay there any longer if she were being a burden. Date night would be her opportunity to finally figure out if she had overstayed her welcome or not -- and if her blossoming feelings were really just foolish after all.

Shaking the negative thought from her head (carefully, as she was still babying her head out of habit), and descending the stairs to meet Byeong. “Well... are we ready to go?”

Unfocused | Baegas

The blonde still couldn’t make sense of it. Everything seemed to move in slow motion, and still she struggled to grasp what had actually happened to her. As her fellow healer waved their illuminated wand around in her vision -- searching for open wounds and echoing the crowd’s hushed questions about her well-being -- Vegas couldn’t help but swat at the shining light in irritation. Why was everyone fussing over her? There were more important people to be concerned with right now; an unstable and rather volatile Harry Potter, the unknown figure responsible for all of this mess, and poor Sam... Sam, who didn’t deserve to be dragged into any of this mess, whose beloved storefront had been so cruelly targeted and whose life was only bound to get even messier with Rita and The Prophet sniffing around. 

A slightly battered Vegas Adelaide was the last thing people should be concerned about, and she wasn’t even that injured! Sure, her head might have grazed the ground a few times, but it wasn’t anything she hadn’t faced before as a seeker. She had a headache and some bruises, she wasn’t dying. Fussing over her wouldn’t get anything done. She didn’t want special treatment, she didn’t want people worrying about her -- she just wanted to go home.

“Would you kindly stop waving that thing in my bloody face? I told you -- I’m fine. I don’t need to visit the ward, I need to go home and sleep it off before my next shift!”
