The low hum of electricity, followed by the ever present whirling of gears had become the normal everyday for the once quiet temple of Djose. The temple's new inhabitants did not share many of the same "pleasantries" as the Yevonites who had come to call the temple home before. They were more interested in harnessing the great electrical forces within the temple, than they were were in worshipping it.
There were some who called their presence in the temple sacrilege. It was nothing new though. The eye patch clad machinist had heard worse. To simply be Al-Bhed had been sacrilege for a long time. Right up until High Summoner Yuna struck down Sin, and brought about the Eternal Calm.
He had used the calamity afterward to establish his little piece of the world. With the great fall of Yevon's teachings, He had seen the perfect opportunity to try and bring his people's works to the lives of all the people of Spira. Gippal even went as far as to use the word Machine, instead of Machina.
Just to try to beat the old taboo.
Call it marketing genius, because the Machine Faction took off fast. Soon there were people signing up from all over Spira to go out into the desert and dig up ancient artifacts and machina from the forgotten past. He would never understand why some people got so excited about playing in the sand.
But hey whatever floated their boat.
Couple that with the ever present tension growing between the Youth League and New Yevon. Both of whom had begun to turn to the Al-Bhed for weaponry, and the G man had to admit. His little venture had become quite profitable.
Profiteering aside, there were some slight concerns that his old comrades might launch a full scale war against one another. Which is one of the reasons Gippal had begun work on a special war machine of his own. On the off chance the Al-Bhed somehow managed to end up in the middle of the growing conflict.
The other reason was of course... Vegnagun. The blond could honestly go the rest of his days without resting his singular swirling orb upon that monstrosity ever again.
He had a strange feeling however that he wouldn't be that lucky.
