"Ezra! Happy trans visibleness day." Complete with pink, white and blue iced biscuits.
“Oh, thank you, babe!” He grinned at the gift, rather touched that Elwyn had known and gone out of his way to make him something. “That’s really sweet of ya, I appreciate it. And I’m gonna be trans and visible, like, forever. It’s exciting.” He was already extra decked out in pride gear for the occasion.
Angel frowned, putting a hand on her hip as she observed her hopeless redhead, pouring over open textbooks and notebooks and potted plants of all shapes and sizes. She’d already gotten ready for bed, and had expected him to do so as well, almost an hour ago.
“I already gave you five more minutes, an hour ago.” Angel whined, but Ezra didn’t even seem to hear her, just muttering something about “phloem density” and “adequate sample sizes”.
“I’ll be there in just a minute.” He finally said, after a pause so long she’d begun to wonder if he’d forgotten she was standing there.
Angel groaned, tilting her head back and praying for patience. She was tired, and she wanted to go to sleep, but she knew he hadn’t slept in at least a full 24 hours, and if he kept going like this, he’d hurt himself. Again.
Suddenly, a thought struck her. A grin found its way to her features, and Angel crept towards Ezra slowly. He glanced back to see her approach, but returned to writing when he confirmed she didn’t have a bucket of water or anything to dump on him. (It had happened at least once before.)
“I know for sure it hasn’t been five minutes yet.” Ezra said, glancing at a vial and writing down more notes.
“I know.” Angel hummed. “I’m giving up.”
“Oh yeah?”
“Yes. Completely.”
“Hm.”
Angel wrapped her arms around Ezra from behind, nuzzling her face into the crook of his neck. He tensed at first, and then relaxed, letting out a breath of air. She nuzzled into his skin, breathing in the scent of him. He hummed, but didn’t move to stop her.
“Just saying goodnight. Before I leave you here. Alone.” She kissed his neck, and then behind his ear, and then his cheek. Ezra didn’t look at her, but his pen had stopped its scratching.
“I know what you’re doing.” He laughed.
“Is it working?”
“Maybe.”
“Oh but how lonely it will be, down here, all by your lonesome, while I, myself, am upstairs, alone, without anyone to cuddle, so lonely, myself, alone.” Angel kissed his cheek again, squeezing his shoulders tighter and then nuzzling just behind his ear again. She threaded one hand through his hair and fussed with it until the red locks stuck out in every direction possible. Ezra laughed again, and finally turned to face her.
“What a nightmare.”
“It really is.” Angel stole a kiss, and he let her, pulling gently at her shirt so she’d come around and stand in front of him instead of behind. She went willingly, being so bold as to sit right in his lap, blocking his view of his desk. “Now if only there were some way to perhaps solve both of our problems...”
“Alright, alright. I’m coming.” Ezra kissed her then, and held her tight to his chest as he stood, letting her feet find their way to the floor again. “Geez, you’re persistent.”
“I could say the same for you. Now let’s get to bed before the sun rises.”
Ezra saw a lot of weird shit around the city. That's just how it was, when he got to walking around and actually looking at things, no phone or other business to distract. It wasn't usually too concerning, perhaps thought-provoking or simply curious,as most things were, and this occasion was no different. Someone he could have sworn he'd seen before in passing, just ... glowing. Huh. That was new.
Ezra usually understood why he got into trouble. He had a lot of questions about the world and took to investigating the answers himself, often at night, and alone, and unprepared for what he was going to find. This knowledge, however, didn’t do shit when it came to getting out of dangerous situations - tonight, it was being cornered by someone who was definitely a vampire. Not that they’d answered his questions about that.
“Hey, could you - I’ve got an essay due this week I’ve really gotta turn in, can we not do this now? Maybe?” He’d never been much of a fighter. His sword was his pen, and all, but apparently he wasn’t too persuasive against those teeth.
He is not ashamed to admit that he screamed. Thankfully, it seemed the vampire only sought to frighten him, but he didn’t notice that much, eyes squeezed shut and hoping that he wasn’t about to get bit.
i’m gonna drop all threads with ezra until i settle down and write with him a bit more - he seems very bland and only half a character right now. i might write him as a side character in threads with quinn, but for now ... he needs some fleshing out.
“He is so interesting! Absolutely gorgeous and adorable, of course, how he’s learning everything human and I guess I’m the same to him, learning everything not-human. He’s been wonderful company and really cool about everything and I’m really thankful to have met him.
I’ve not seen much of him being, y’know, prince, and I am kinda worried how that could go for us? I’m not royalty, and not a fairy, and I dunno, fairytale shit says that won’t go well for us. But I like him, and I hope things turn out.”
“The only gift I want is stability and happiness. But this wrapping paper is pretty.” - Elwyn for Ezra!
“While I intend to give you both those things, I can’t really wrap them, can I?” It was endearing nonetheless, and Ezra couldn’t help give Elwyn a smile, and a gentle tap on the head with the roll of paper. “Don’t worry about it. I like giving gifts.”
