“So what? I got called out here to do the job I was already doing? Could have just filed a transfer.”

He sighed, laying back in his tent, getting comfortable as he decided to call it for the night. It really was just a reiteration of his task from before. It’s not like he was going to say no. There was work to be done and who could he trust to see it done aside from himself? Just wished it wasn’t on such...unusual terms.

“Guess that means it’s just gonna get more complicated from here on out.”

So everything was laid bare then? Seemed suspicious to him. There had to be details left out. Nothing of this sort of scale was ever that concise. But it was questionable whether or not it actually mattered to him. He had one purpose to fulfill, one goal, one reason to exist. And it was the very task he was summoned to perform here. It was just another mission.

“Is that a joke? Asking whether or not I will fight to protect humanity? Please...”
