Cynthia really needed to get a job. It was something that occured to her when she realized she had almost no money. Not only that, but she was starting to get bored of wandering town with nothing to do. So here she was, job hunting. The bustling streets and crowds of people normally didn’t bother people, but today she was rather lethargic from bouncing from interview to interview.
She walked much slower than the rest of the pack and was jostled back and forth along the sidewalk. Everyone was in such a hurry, surely they didn’t all need to get wherever they were going that quickly. Cynthia was quickly growing tired of being smacked around and decided to park herself on a bench outside one of the shops. Maybe the sidewalk would clear up a bit after a few minutes.
People watching was a hobby of hers. Across the seat there was a lecherous old man looking down his waitresses shirt every time she bent over the table. Across from him was his wife, who clearly noticed but didn’t seem to care enough to do anything about it. A few feet away from him a little boy was picking popcorn off the ground and eating it, his mother was chattingon her cellphone not paying him any attention.
A few feet in the opposite direction a rather distracted looking male was being pushed around just as badly as she had been earlier. His wallet dropped out of his pocket and bounced on the ground. He didn’t seem to notice and continued his way down the street. Cynthia stood up and quickly snagged his wallet off the ground and chased him down, making a rather futile attempted to weave in and out of the crowd.
“Excuse me!”
She finally caught up to him. Normally a run like that wouldn’t bother her in the slightest, but she was exhausted from pretending to be a Grade A citizen all day. “You dropped this.”
