Freya wasn’t sure if the vague nature of Emelia’s words were giving her trouble in understanding the problem or if it was the drowsiness in her mind. Perhaps it was a bit of both. Either way, Freya was still very confused as to what was wrong with Jeff. Firstly, she didn’t get why he was in a basement. But she supposed if he wasn’t acting like himself a basement is probably a good a space as any for that.
She ran her fingers through her hair as she listened to Emelia speak more. As if the action could cleanse her mind of the sleep clouds.
“...I don’t think he knows he’s human…”
Freya turned to face her friend at that phrase. Her eyebrow raised in alarm. That was something she understood. Something she had experienced herself the first year she had started the change. “Do you know how long he’s been acting this way?” she asked and then realized Emelia did not. It had been at least twenty four hours, of that they could both be certain. She bit her thumb as she sat in thought.
“What’s afflicting Jeff is a common ailment.” Freya finally began. He wouldn’t be dealing with it if he had just let me help him be one with the wolf. Freya thought to herself. “It happens when a person doesn’t attempt to control their inner wolf. Sometimes the wolf takes the reins of consciousness even when a person has phased back into their true form. It can last for hours, days, weeks, maybe even longer. I think the only thing we can do is wait it out.” Freya shrugged carelessly and took a sip of water sitting on the coffee table. She might have had more sympathy for Jeff if he had finally relented and let her help. But he didn’t and she thought of this as a karmic lesson he was now being forced to learn.
