Price of Selflessness || Closed ||
Things had taken a turn for the worse, sadly. A tense drop off meeting ended up in an outright gunfight. Xion had been brought along for a little defense if it was needed but this wasn’t ever something they expected to actually go down. Rina and Dabin were defending the front, using any cover they could find. The wraith didn’t need to worry much, if he just remained aware of where the gunfire was coming from she could get by without anything actually hitting her. Dabin was just always graced with sheer dumb luck. He rarely got hurt in confrontations like this, and when he did it was mostly because he went a more animistic approach. He could take out more enemies faster as a wolf, but it also left him a bigger target, easier to hit. Jiah had been instructed to fall back and provide what cover she could if something like this took place, Ilkwan was nearby, the stress clear on his features despite how well he seemed to keep it all together. Things like this weren’t his place, even Jiah was more accustomed to this than he was. Wai was... Somewhere overhead. A last minute change of position on the opposing side left her initial set up spot useless. Couldn’t snipe something when there was a building blocking the way. Last time Jiah knew the qareen was moving to a new position to provide whatever assistance she could.... But she hadn’t gotten there yet. The demon just hoped she hadn’t run into trouble, Wai wasn’t the most well versed in close combat. She was capable, but that didn’t mean the succubus wouldn’t worry.
“Ilkwan!” Jiah called out, movement behind their positions catching her attention. This had been a damn ambush. The last minute change, the closed in location they switched to... They were practically fish in a barrel. The only advantage they had was they weren’t human. They could fight harder, longer, they could take more damage than any of the grunts they were up against. They had numbers on their side, but alone they were one man armies, they just had to play things smart. If they kept things under control, if they kept up with things, they should get out of this with minimal injuries and god willing, no casualties. But with the threats closing in from the back the demon’s shouts weren’t heard by Ilkwan over the deafening gunfire. He didn’t see them, he wouldn’t know what hit him... A bullet or two wouldn’t kill him, but it would be much harder for him to put up any fight like he could while not in pain... Jiah however... She had more than enough stored up life energy that she could handle a few injuries and just let them heal instantly. If she took the hits, no one would be compromised. Just as long as she didn’t take much more damage in the long run. Without hesitation the succubus was running from her cover to reach the ghoul, Guarding his body with her own as she instinctively tensed at the sounds of rounds letting loose behind her. It would only hurt a second before it was gone entirely... She just wished Xion didn’t have to be around for something like this. She’d apologize to him for having to see all this once they got back... Because they all would get back. There wasn’t any other option to her.
