“Alright guys, the cavalry has arrived! I heard your morning was busy, did things get to slow down ye-.... Who’s this?” The officer’s peppy demeanor changed at the drop of a hat, seeing someone in one of their holding cells making him a lot less willing to show any side to him other than his professional attitude. “Who’s who?... Oh, uh... This morning there was a big mess, and he wasn’t one of the aggressors but kind of got caught up in everything and it was so busy and honestly.... I actually forgot he was still here, he hasn’t said a word in ages.” 

Hearing the run down from his coworker Jungkook’s eyebrows nearly popped up they rose so high. He heard correctly, right? “You’re kidding me, right?” His tone no longer held the happy teasing tone of before, his words low and intimidating, agitation showing clearly on his face. “You kept a completely innocent civilian locked up for the entire morning and didn’t even remember to let him go once everything got sorted out? What you got done with all the chaos and wanted to jump right into the paperwork that you never seem to do.” He wasn’t yelling, he refused to shout out his frustrations in front of someone who shouldn’t even be there to begin with, however the low volume still caused the other officer to advert his gaze completely. Jungkook didn’t let himself get too angry just yet, he could really tear into the morning shift after he cleaned up their mess. Moving over to the holding cell the officer offered a gentle smile at the man inside, already moving to sift through his keys to unlock the door. “Hey there, sorry you had to wait in there so long. I hope you were at least treated nicely while you were here. You can tell me if my officers gave you more trouble than they should have this morning, I won’t think you’re just trying to get them in trouble or anything like that. I just want to be sure that the proper apologies are given is all.”

at long lost, they've arrived to found.

it began with a couple in poverty, who had already birthed and cared for a precious son. an equally precious daughter was brought into the world, but with no means to care for her, and so she was given up in hopes of her having a better life, and with the intention of giving the precious son better support. 

what should’ve been jeon, became seo. 

seo jisoo was adopted by a couple who were all about appearances. they suffered a miscarriage well into the pregnancy, but rather than tell the families about the misfortune, they covered it up by adopting a baby girl and pretending she was their biological daughter. 

their marriage was loveless, and jisoo was raised in an empty household.

her parents were either working, or out spending time with their friends. jisoo had full liberty to do whatever she wanted, mostly because her parents didn’t care about her. was it because she was adopted? she wonders that now, but back then she simply thought she was a disappointment. 

she had been rather rebellious, but her parents never cared about what she did. underaged drinking, pregnancy scares, none of it phased them. she decided she wanted a career path full of fame, adoration, and attention, and opted for trying to be an idol. she was supposed to debut... fat chance. she did get into k-arts though, and she currently lives the musical theatre life as a perpetual chorus member. getting kicked out of her old label, however, was the straw that broke her parents’ backs. they finally told her she was adopted, and she went looking for her biological family.

she found love.

not only did she have a father that accepted her into his household with open arms, she also had a brother she clicked with the moment they met. she’s become close to him, incredibly so, ever since she moved in with her father. oddly enough, they’re alike in so many ways it’s as if they were raised together. they definitely shared dna.

and she definitely loved him to bits.

It should have been obvious. After all the signs, all the gut feelings, this shouldn’t have been a surprise. He wasn't even supposed to be on shift, he’d only been called in last minute and a routine patrol was the only reason he’d been in the right place at the right time; or in this case, maybe not. Despite seeing it with his own eyes, Jungkook  still wanted to make excuses. Yoongi wasn’t a killer. More importantly he couldn’t be The killer... But it all made sense. He fit the descriptions, he had literally been caught red handed but... The officer still didn’t want to believe any of it. 

For the first time, he wished he’d never become an officer in the first place. At least if he hadn’t, he wouldn’t have to arrest him. He wouldn’t have to accept the reality that the love of his life was the murderer he’d been trying to catch. 

“Hyung.” Jungkook called out, voice cold and detached in order to hide just how hurt he was. He had a job to do, he knew that... But could he actually go through with it? “Don’t fight me. Don’t make this harder than it has to be. Just turn your back towards me and keep your hands where I can see them.”

Fire || Closed ||

It was an F 10-50, a house fire not far from the officer’s location. He wouldn’t have been literally running to the building puffing out smoke if the mention of a person still inside hadn’t been made. The fire department wasn’t going to make it before him, he’d be the first one there, and he’d be the only hope if someone really was still inside. “Officer Jeon on scene, I’m entering the home to see if anyone’s inside.” He shouted into his radio as he continued to run the last few steps to the entrance of the home. Hearing dispatch start to deny his course of action and ordering him to wait for the fire crew Jungkook flipped the radio off completely as he forced his way through the door and into a world of smoke. 

“Hello? Is someone in here?!” Shouting out the words as he tried to look around through the haze, Jungkook covered his nose and mouth with the fabric of his sleeve in attempts to keep himself from breathing in too much of the smoke that was already burning at his eyes. He could feel the heat from the fire, moving cautiously forward and staying away from the angry looking flames. Then he saw him, the male inside on the bed. At first Jungkook thought he was asleep but as he rushed forward he realized he was awake. Was this all purposeful, it seemed like it, but now that he was in here he was going to get both of them out, there was no other option. “Come on we’re getting out out of here. We have to hurry.” The younger shouted out, resisting the urge to cough out the smoke that irritated his throat and lungs as he reached for the stranger, instantly trying to tug him up and out the door. “Is there anyone else inside?”

Vulture, Broken {Jungkook:Self}

he’s never taken well to failure. never. he’s only failed once, and he can definitely say he’s afraid of it. he’s terrified of failure, he’s terrified of things that lurk with failure, like regret and hopelessness. he can’t look eagle in the face, not now. not after he knows he’s managed to fail even slightly. he’s failed eagle, failed him by going into the world where he’s free. by going into the world and falling for someone, that’s the worst thing. eagle trained him to not have emotions, to not feel, but when he bumped into yoongi, he felt something. he’s still feeling something, a feeling of alive that he’s never felt before. not while holding a gun, not while watching the life drain from someone.

“you’re disgraceful.” vulture’s voice hurts his ears. eagle’s calm voice behind him, a whisper of, “vulture, stop.” jungkook is almost cowering, his fear finally showing in front of someone other than himself, late at night, curled up in his room.

“jungkook is not a disgrace. falling is human. natural.” his voice is only a whisper, but jungkook hears him loud and clear.

“kite. some damn kite. you’re more like a fucking canary. a pet bird. are you happy, canary bird? knowing you’re someone’s pet? you’re fucking wrapped around his finger, aren’t you?” jungkook bites his bottom lip, knowing the lecture is coming, and he can’t stop it.

“vulture, stop it, now.” eagle’s voice raises, and vulture immediately steps back, gulping. “jungkook, i let you into the world because i thought you could handle it. falling is normal, finding someone you like, maybe even love, is perfectly fine. don’t let it affect your concentration, or cloud your judgment. if we tell you to come, you come. at the drop of a pin. you don’t tell us no, you don’t ignore my phone call. i will not hesitate to send vulture for you, if you ignore us. be perfectly clear with me, jungkook. you are to come when i call.” jungkook nods his head, fear blatant in his eyes. he doesn’t want to fail eagle, not the man who rescued him from a hell-hole, the man who took him in. he can’t fail him.

“yes, sir.” he whispers, and eagle’s face is actually graced with a smile. eagle reaches out, ruffling his hair.

“good boy.” is the only response jungkook gets, but he’s still gulping down fear when he looks to the right, vulture’s eyes on him.

Yoongi {Jungkook:Self}

Staring out the window, Jungkook is still having a hard time coming to grips with the fact that he's gone. Yoongi. Is. Gone. Those words go through his head on a constant basis right now. But all he can remember is the time that he had him, the time that he was so in love it hurt.

Jungkook has only ever been with one person in any way. He’s almost afraid to admit that to them, because he knows their mind is guilty already. He can see it swimming in his eyes when they make eye contact, and he can see it in the way that the person moves when they’re intoxicated.

Yoongi is something Jungkook never thought he’d come across in life. When they kiss, Jungkook’s stomach lights on fire. He doesn’t know how to explain the feeling other than molten lava coursing through him. He dreads the day Yoongi asks him if there’s been anyone else, because he dreads having to answer with no and watching the male’s face fall apart. To Jungkook, he’s not sure if he can fathom anything better, but Yoongi will be convinced there’s so much better Jungkook could have had.

He’s pacing in his kitchen, a glass of coffee – black, because even though he doesn’t like the way it tastes, Yoongi does, and he’s giving it one more try because of this – in his hands, warming the skin. He feels stupid for feeling stupid, for not wanting to admit the fact that he’s terribly inexperienced. He doesn’t want Yoongi to know that before him, he’s never been touched, kissed, even looked at the way Yoongi does. Even in the eyes full of some sort of regret and anxiety, Jungkook can see the desire in Yoongi’s eyes, which makes him feel good about himself.

Right now, what he’s wanting is to feel the other against him again. Just to be close to him in the most innocent of ways. He’s really just wanting to sit on his couch and watch television with him. Or listen to him talk. Or breathe. Or just be. Jungkook is a tiny bit infatuated with the other male. He enjoys his company, his touch, his scent, everything for the most part. While he didn’t really enjoy sitting outside of a bathroom for the entire night after listening to Yoongi literally spill his guts, he thinks that if the night had have gone smoother, it wouldn’t have been Yoongi. Jungkook doesn’t know why that sentence makes sense in his head, but it does. If the night had been smooth, and they had curled up in bed together, then it wouldn’t be the same. It’d have been normal, not unorthodox, not unique, not Yoongi. Jungkook now knows the floor of Yoongi’s hallway is cold – really fucking cold if you ask him directly – and that the shower is really loud. He knows where Yoongi keeps his towels because he opened the closet looking for a pillow.

What he doesn’t know is if it was the alcohol or the acts themselves that had Yoongi lurching and heaving after their acts were over. If it was the alcohol, that’s understandable, but if it wasn’t…that’s the thought that has Jungkook’s mind reeling. He has figured out at this point that there’s something Yoongi just can’t seem to accept about himself – it’s in the way he carries himself, in the way he wants to deny the soft affection from Jungkook – but he hasn’t quite picked it out. He knows he can’t ask. He just knows.

He sits down on his couch, placing the cup of the – still untouched, still very hot, still very gross – black coffee on the table before curling up, his phone in his hand as he clicks it open to the text screen. He goes to Yoongi’s name, smiling and typing out a message, his bottom lip trapped between his teeth as he does so.

Childhood Remembered {Jungkook:Self}

Jungkook doesn’t really remember much from his childhood. There’s one thing that stands out to him, though, and that’s the first time he met Eagle. He doesn’t know why, laying on his couch at four in the morning, he’s thinking back to this, but he is, and it almost makes him want to cry.

Six years old. He’s been in the compound for two years and still hasn’t met the main boss. He knows almost nothing about him other than his name is Eagle. He’s only met Vulture – sick, disgusting Vulture who smells like rotten eggs, he thinks with a scrunched up nose, a boyish giggle leaving his mouth as he runs down a hallway he knows he’s not supposed to go down. He doesn’t know if he’ll get caught, but the most Vulture will do is scold him and stick him back in his room, so he isn’t too afraid. He likes going places he isn’t supposed to go, especially if it means he can meet Eagle. He’s dreamed about it since he got here, honestly. He wants to meet the man that saved him from a life of orphanages and foster families. He wants to meet the man who saved him from certain destruction. Too soon for his liking, however, he does.

He runs directly into something hard, and he falls back. When he looks up, eyes soft and swimming like the ocean except they’re almost black. Jungkook is amazed, awe-filled. He feels like he’s staring up at his savior, and the feeling gets more prominent when Eagle opens his mouth. “Hello, little one.” he says, bending down to meet Jungkook’s eye level. Jungkook is almost shaking with anticipation, and his smile is still beaming. “Are you lost?” he asks, his smile warm. Jungkook doesn’t know yet that Eagle smiles most when he’s angry.

“Yeah, only kind of…” he says honestly, looking down. He’s always had a problem being too honest. He gives away way too much information when he talks to people. Eagle knows this is going to be a hard trait to crack, but he’ll do it himself if he has to. “I was actually looking for you!” Jungkook says, and this makes Eagle’s eyes widen. Looking for him? Why?

“Why?” he asks, and Jungkook stands up, tucking his hands in his pockets, looking down at the ground, kicking his sneaker against the concrete floor.

“I’ve been here for two years and still haven’t got to thank you for saving me.” he says with a small smile on his face. “I didn’t want to be stuck.” Eagle can’t believe what he’s hearing. This kid is thanking him for recruiting him to be a cold-blooded killer? It’s insanity, but he’s hearing it. Jungkook moves forward, the next move he makes a daring one as he wraps his arms around Eagle’s neck, hugging him tightly. Eagle sits for exactly four seconds before moving timidly, his arms coming up around Jungkook. He’s never had a son or a daughter, being only nineteen, but this is a feeling that shakes him almost to the core. Hugging this little kid, Eagle smiles genuinely.

“You just have to promise me you’ll work hard then, okay Jungkook?” he says, and Jungkook nods quickly.

“I promise!” he says with a smile, and Eagle lets him go. A pat to his head and Eagle is laughing.

“Good boy.”
