“The best thing for the both of us is to be on our separate paths.” Said the Once-Queen. The being known as Lyall, now appearing as human as she, had been a valuable ally in keeping her people safe in the wooded encampment, allowing them to remain unseen and unknown. Molly liked to think that their partnership had also helped keep Lyall and those like her safe, away from those who would hunt them for sport. It couldn’t be denied, however, that the continued exposure to one another would make things far more difficult to be careful. Those who hunted the beasts may stumble upon the encampment, and those who hunted the encampment would undoubtedly run into the beast--

Molly couldn’t continue that line of thinking. The truth of the matter was, she had grown fond and close with Lyall in these woods, and separation from her meant made her heart clench inside her chest.

“It’s the best thing.” She repeated after a moment.

Even if it would have been easier to simply step away, she stepped forward, and dragged the taller being lower to capture lips with her own.

while chubby’s had become her comfort place, she’d missed that special taste of fancy, high-end, sugary espresso she could only get at an actual café. it definitely didn’t feel like cheating on chubby’s because . . . because, well, it was just a restaurant! and she promised not to eat anything there. what the diner didn’t know, didn’t hurt it. aisling hurried into the fancy coffee shop, trying to order a basic PSL and get out of there as quickly as possible. what if someone told––alright, it had gotten to a ridiculous point now, and aisling was ending that train of thought. she could enjoy her coffee as long as she wanted. when it was finally available at the pick up counter, aisling turned around to search for a table when she spotted lyall, and the sudden urge to chug her coffee and go almost over took her. “I have no intention on telling the king. Have you?” Molly arched a dark brow at the--well, perhaps it was female. Lyall was unlike anyone or anything Molly had seen yet in her youth, though she remained convinced that she matched them in every way, in the same way all youth thought themselves to be invincible.

The hood is pulled low over her features as she led the way from the castle grounds. It was a path she was most familiar with, and one of the very few she had yet to escape as she liked. Hurrying along, she attempted to move only in shadow as they neared the woods’ edge.

“Go.” She said, having to crane her chin to look up at the monster she’d freed. “Go, and I would advise you not to come back while the king lives. If he finds you again, he will not have captivity in mind, but worse.”

Lyall leans over. She has her best Seductive Face on. She leans closer, then closer, then--promptly licks Molly's cheek and cackles.

“EW!” Molly instantly drew down her sleeve and wiped at her cheek. She wanted to pout, but the quirk still her lips wouldn’t be deterred. Instead, she settled for a wrinkled nose and shoving lightly at Lyall’s shoulder in an effort to push her over on the couch.

“You’re such a jerk!” In revenge, Molly grabbed a throw pillow and, er, threw it at Lyall’s head.

Wearing nothing but boxer shorts and an impressive collection of scars, Lyall rumbled contentedly, pressing her nose into Molly's neck to breathe her in. She'd sprawled herself atop her tiny, tiny girlfriend like a blanket some time ago and showed absolutely no sign of wanting to move any time soon. "Tell me a fun fact," she murmured, "about--hmmm--moths." [ local wolf gf just wants to hear molly talk about things ]

As loathe as she was to be considered tiny-tiny in any measure, Molly had gladly wrapped herself around Lyall’s form. Typically, the consistent pressure atop her--effectively pinning her to the bed--might have aggravated Molly’s claustrophobia or hindered her constant need to move and explore. This time, however, she’d had the foresight to bring two books and placed them on the bedside table for stimulus as Lyall slept. Currently, she was enthralled in a book on healing spells.

“Hm?” She hummed distractedly, brows furrowed over dark-rimmed glasses. Reaching to the table, she grabbed a highlighting pen, popped the cap off with her teeth to mark a passage. Cap replaced, she belatedly realized Lyall had spoken.

“Hm?” She asked again. “Oh, moths. Moths, moths...” Pursing her lips, she pushed aside incantations in favor of winged insects. “Oh! Did you know that some moths can mimic other creatures to avoid being eaten? Tarantulas and wasps and even bird dumps. Some moths exist only to mate and lay eggs, and there are so many moths in the world that they outnumber butterfly species--typically 10 to 1, I think. Unconfirmed, but it’s a thing. That’s a lot of damn moths.”

"The other one," Lyall grinned at her. There was only a /little/ uncertainty in it. "You dinnae have to say it back - or even feel it, to be honest. I get that it's a big thing for some folk. And like, if it's a wee bit 'ehhh' for you to hear it, I can hush as well. But I meant it. So like. Aye." She shrugged, as if it were the most casual thing in the world.

It wasn’t easy to make--and keep--Molly speechless. She constantly had something to say, even if it happened to be absolute nonsense to avoid a long, uncomfortable pause. 

This wasn’t one of those moments.

“I love you.” Molly interrupted quietly as Lyall spoke, the words likely lost as her girlfriend continued on. It was far too soft, as if she knew it was a bad idea to say it. But was it a bad idea if someone else said it first? If someone else meant it first? 

She whet her lips, and tried again. “I love you. It’s a big thing, for me. I didn’t...think...I didn’t expect you to feel the same way. But I mean it.”

“I love you, Lyall.”

Well, she’d gotten her wish. A few drinks to the wind she’d asked a veritable goddess to make out with her (which she would still be questioning by morning), and somewhere along the line she found herself in the alleyway beside the bar...doing just that. 

Eilidh always said she needed to get herself a bit of excitement.

It was the feeling of the brick wall at her back that finally grounded Molly, and she made a sound against Lyall’s mouth as she parted. Breathless, her eyes flicked from lips to eyes and back.

Once Lyall had decided that this was where she was going to be, there wasn't going to be much moving her. Molly tried, regardless--less wrestling with her and more like a koala clinging to a tree. Admittedly, she wasn't trying very hard.

"You're lucky I don't know karate. I'd kick your ass so hard, and you'd be so sad. 'Oh, Molly! You're so big and strong and fast!'. That's you. That's what you'd say."'

Then she gave Lyall a peck to her lips, just to punctuate.
