x). is there a snack you like to eat while writing?
I usually don’t eat while I’m writing bc I have ADHD so when I have to take my medicine I am not hungry at all. Plus, I don’t like crumbs on my computer.
x). what time of day do you usually write?
Early in the morning so like 9 am to 1:30 pm and then 4:30 pm to 9 pm, and if I’m staying up later 12 am to 3 am.
x). where do you write?
I write on my couch, my bed, at my table... honestly pretty much everywhere but my writing desk lol.
x). how often do you write a new novel?
I’ve written about four outlines for a novel but I’m really not interested in writing novels. I do a lot of anthologies, short stories, flash fictions, books of poetry, or poetry. I’m usually working on a fiction anthology and a book of poetry at the same time. I like to have the entire rough draft complete after two months, so probably every two months, collection-wise, I’m working on something new. But for shorter, singular works, I like to have six new short stories/flash fiction and twelve new poems every week.
x). do you listen to music while you write?
I have to be listening to something will writing, I get too stressed out and filled with writer's block in silence. So I need music, the TV, youtube, etc. on in the background.
x). what’s your writing utensil? paper or laptop?
Both. I’m really bad about doodling a bunch of ideas, lines, or stanzas on random pieces of papers so it’s like I can never through any papers away, because I have something I need, written on them, but I already have so much on my laptop that I get stressed if I have to move stuff to my word docs.
x). do you have a special pre-writing ritual?
I have to clean the area I’m going to write in.
x). what do you do to get into the writing mood?
I feel like I’m always in a writing mood, whether it is something new or revising something.
x). what do you always have near the place you write?
All the papers and notebooks that I’ve doodled or taken notes on.
x). do you have a reward system for word counts?
It depends on what I am finishing. Normally I reward myself with sleep, eating, hanging out with friends, but usually, it is rewarding myself with playing video games.
x). is there anything else about your writing process your readers don’t know?
That I’m not as serious as about my roleplaying work as I used to be. I took almost a two-year hiatus, and have progressively stopped caring about format and structure, and most importantly actual writing skill. A lot of the fandoms, and groups, I roleplayed in became so elitist and it’s so sad because sure they have these great blogs, and great structures/format, but the writing skills actually lack. This rant strayed from the question lol.
