While I am canon divergent and use Anna Paquin as Rogue’s fc, I do NOT hold to XMCU canon (the only good thing that came of that series was the Rogue and Logan interactions, bless). Most of my canon is 616 with some influence from the shows.
Rogue is post Carol Danvers and Wonder Man in my canon, whether or not she’s established control yet, ergo:
She can absorb powers, life energy, psyche, memory, and outstanding physical characteristics via touch. The longer the contact- the more she takes. (canon, the physical trait part depends on where you look, but I keep it)
Flight- incredibly fast when flying. (canon)
Invulnerable- cannot be stabbed, shot, holds up to high speed while flying. Body is just incredibly durable. (canon)
Strength- can press over 100 tons. (canon)
Cannot be poisoned by most poisons and toxins - thanks to Danvers human/Kree mutation. (canon)
Ionic energy from Wonder Man changed her cellular makeup and permeated her tissue. Immune to disease and aging. She can see in the dark thanks a small degree of infrared vision. (canon)
My default currently for Rogue is v; in control, unless you have a muse where it makes more sense to play in a different verse. I tend to play to your canon, as I’m flexible.
Regardless of what verse she is in, her background always remains the same unless specified otherwise by an AU: born 3/15/91, grew up in Mississippi, mother left when she was five, father and aunt were abusive spurring her to runaway, lived on the street and in foster homes, was adopted by Raven and Irene after her power manifested. She is fluent in bayou French, and thanks to those she’s absorbed, has an understanding of Spanish, Japanese, and Russian as well.
I consider everything done multi-verse/multi-ship, and nothing is interconnected unless specified (i.e., if you see me or someone I ship with interacting with someone else, there is no cheating).
Main verses
v; in control- 32 years old, in control of her powers for ~5 years, on the X-Men team but less enamored with the mentality and Xavier than when she originally joined. Never had her powers bouncing on and off.
Absorbed Carol Danvers and Wonder Man, as such powers include: power/memory/psyche/strange physical characteristics that are beyond normal human absorption (rate of absorption is 60x length of contact but only psyche and memories are retained)
flight (max at 500 mph)
super strength (class 100+, immeasurable past 100 tons)
invulnerable (e.g., bullets bounce off, can take hits and falls that would kill/crush others)
heightened senses (not as keen as a feral mutants but better than a normal human’s)
heightened reflexes (Carol’s 7th sense)
immune to most poisons and venoms
immune to illness and aging
able to see in the dark
some uv vision
tolerant of extreme temperatures (she can withstand them without ill effects but she will still be uncomfortable)
She does retain the psyches of the people she absorbs regardless of being in control and no longer harming people if granted permission to take them on, and suffers the ill effects from this. This also makes her immune to telepaths because getting a hold on her own psyche by itself is difficult (don’t @ me it’s canon).
Grew up with undiagnosed AuDHD, she is very good at masking because she had to become so to survive, but does have traits that come with it (auditory processing difficulties, easily experiences sensory overload, difficulty expressing thoughts into verbal communication, difficulty seeing gray areas and strong sense of sticking to moral code, stims when highly emotive, RSD [Rejection Senstive Dysphoria], etc). [This is my interpretation of her, if it bothers you...there’s other Rogues.]
I do not write her as not needing oxygen, food, or water as the comics currently imply, she can simply go longer in less ideal conditions without kicking the bucket. I personally feel to have otherwise is a might bit ridiculous, I’m not trying to rp a god.
I do not by default have her in a relationship with anyone at the start of an interaction, outside of having dated an npc Remy at some point, unless the opposite muse is a Remy and it is assumed no interactions have been had unless plotted otherwise.
v; i’m a danger- aged 14-25, until much, much closer to learning full control at 25 she has absolutely no control over her power and doesn’t have a choice but to absorb life force along with psyche, memories, odd physical traits beyond that of baseline human, and powers via skin contact. Contact is painful, usually results in the person touched being knocked out. There are those that are immune, such as Leech, Loki, etc. Her power manifested kissing her boyfriend Cody, putting him into a permanent coma, and the trauma leaving her power in it’s nascent state due to a mental block. Soon out of being run out of town from her current foster home, Raven Darkholme (Mystique) finds and adopts her. Rogue was not aware until much later that Raven didn’t just find her by chance, still holds that against her mother, less so Irene now that Irene is dead.
v; school days- aged 14-18, X-Men Evolution stylized verse that does not include clones or kidnapping because...no, that wasn’t at all Remy.
v; krakoa- aged 30, AU Rogue for those of you that prefer to interact in or only have a Krakoa verse. Keep in mind I don’t have much fondness for how Rogue is portrayed in that run, and she is not desiring to be child-free. Remy would be an NPC Remy unless otherwise specified. I also am limited to what I’ve seen on tumblr panel scans, so if you want me to include a specific event, etc, we’d need to discuss so I’m up to speed on what you want to write. Keep in mind, my Rogue isn’t too keen on a murder-sex cult.
v; avengers- age thread dependent, power control dependent on age, verse for avengers or mcu muses for easy of plotting as she is canonically an Avenger. Same deal, was made to join to help with mutant representation/public image. Not too fond of Stark to say the least.
v; hell’s kitchen- aged 27-32, verse for netflix mcu, mcu, people that just prefer her like this. Ditched the X-Men after getting tired of Xavier’s shit to live in the city, works as a motorcycle mechanic, continues doing vigilante work. Has control.
Currently active subverses you will see around here (below the cut to save your dash)
v; family is more than blood- age and control status thread dependent. familial ship with @bothsidesofaquestion, mention of Remy being @meretrixious
v; found family- age and control status thread dependent. familial/friend ships with @untamedtempest/ @inmywiring, @blindedvigilante/ @thenewcastleincident, mention of Remy in this verse is thread dependent but most often @meretrixious in relation to that verse unless specified as not, in which case it is mine
v; la mort des amoureux- parle moi sale alternate outcome PPD AU with @meretrixious, this is not to be seen as main canon, and it’s going to end very fucking badly, and it’s going to hurt like a bitch. oops? (none of this is taken lightly by either of us, just so we’re clear, mental health is not a joke, and I do honestly view Rogue as prime potential candidate for developing PPD...but I also like having nice things and no this isn’t going to be main Rogue, but a different Rogue in the Rogue multi-verse)
v; parle moi sale- age 32, in control subverse. romantic ship with @meretrixious with child Aramis to be featured within this verse. Married, happily, no cheating occurring (we’re both multi-ship, that stuff is separate, there’s occasionally been some confusion there in the past so doubly clarifying)
v; thick thighs and all that- avenger’s subverse with @suffcring’s Darcy
v; when i kiss you it’s quiet- Hell’s Kitchen subverse with @ifyoucatchacriminal’s Spencer
During a full moon, Ryan goes through the extremely painful process of turning into a wolf.
Takes on all wolf-like instincts, which includes attacking and/or killing those that cross her path.
In her wolf form, she has extremely heightened strength, speed, stamina and senses. She can out run and out fight most other creatures, even vampires.
Wolves are pack creatures and prefer turning and running with their pack during a full moon.
Werewolf bites are lethal to vampires.
If Ryan were to bite a human while in her wolf form and they were to survive, they would become a werewolf as well.
In her wolf form, Ryan has exceptional regenerative healing.
Limitations
In her wolf form, Ryan loses a significant amount of control, and could end up hurting even those she cares most for.
If she is a part of a pack with an alpha, she will blindly follow the leadership of that alpha when in wolf form, unless she feels the need to challenge them.
Is a slave to the full moon--will change into a wolf when there’s a full moon whether she likes it or not, and the transformation process is extremely painful.
Ryan will only be able to remember small bits and pieces from her time as a wolf.
Is vulnerable to wolfsbane.
Human Form
As a human, Ryan has heightend strength, speed, stamina and senses above a regular human, but not enough to match other stronger supernatural creatures like vampires.
She is able to smell out other wolves or vampires (and sometimes even other types of supernatural beings if they have a distinct scent).
She has a strong pack mentality even as a human, and is fiercely protective of those she cares most about and sees as a part of her pack.
In her human form, Ryan still has sped up regenerative healing, but it is not as fast as in her wolf form.
She deals with a lot of anger and restless energy from being a werewolf.
She is not able to be compelled by vampires, and her blood tastes terrible to vampires, and if fed on, would make the vampire very sick.
Limitations
She has a distinct scent to other supernatural creatures, which could get her in trouble with others like vampires who are natural enemies to the werewolves.
She is not as strong, or fast in her human form.
She often loses control of her temper, which is why she tries to channel it into her vigilante work.
Again if she is a part of a pack with an alpha, she will find it very hard to not do as they say, or risk challenging them.
In DOFP they do imply Banshee is dead...which is awful. Because Sean is a precious babe. Anyway, any headcanons on how Alex got rounded up to be taken by Trask? He didn't have the physical mutations the other ones he was staying with, had. Also, you'd think he'd suspect something earlier than when Stryker showed up?
I think they pretty much confirmed, which SUCKS because no no no Sean must live and be happy. There’s a chance Erik, Charles and Hank etc. were mistaken and Sean’s really just chilling in Ireland but who’s to say.
Considering Trask had technology that could detect Mutants, and that Mutant Registration was almost definitely a thing sometime between XMFC and DOFP past, Alex was most likely filed as a Mutant from the get go: even if he didn’t write it down or anything, blood tests would reveal it pretty fast.
He also doesn’t have a lot of control, so even if he managed to get past filing and medical tests, in the heat of battle he definitely would have lost control and used his powers somehow.
Overall I think he was there not from being found out, but just because they knew about his species before he was drafted. They knew which guys were Mutants and which were Humans, and probably dumped the Mutant soldiers in the more dangerous areas.
This is completely film based, in terms of this blog I HC that he does have a physical mutation: his eyes which were originally brown, as shown in comics when he was a child, and turned electric blue like his plasma when his powers manifested, much like Scott’s eyes turned red like his beams. If people pay more than a passing notice of his eyes they’ll notice the colouring actually moves and in dark rooms, his eyes have an extremely subtle glow: a glow that gets brighter depending on his energy level, using powers or mood.
I am lame but I’m taking the comics of the crash with brown eyed child Alex but then all the other comics with blue eyed adult Alex set after Mutation manifests as evidence that the blue pigment in Alex’s eyes is actually his blue plasma
The one thing about his abilities that Alex trusts the most is his immunities. He was born with them, he knows nothing different, it’s just always been fact that he can put his hand in a fire and not get burned. He’s never had a reason to think it wouldn’t work like he has with his plasma etc. - the idea of being burned by a candle is as unfathomable and absurd to him as the idea of us cutting our skin on a downy feather.
He doesn’t entirely trust his plasma and other aspects of his abilities, but he has complete faith in his immunities because they’re the only consistent thing about his Mutations.
He doesn’t see them as superpowers. They just are. In the same way we don’t see having protective oils on our skin as a superpower.
