Would love to yeet Rowan II at any inquisitors or inquisition companions. Have fun dealing with a new magic'd kid with abandonment issues. She's very polite and very sweet please don't leave her too.
OKAY but I have SUCH BIG FEELINGS about the political choices made with Cailan's marriage prospects because marrying Anora ISN'T BAD. She is a solid fucking choice, she's the daughter of one of the most famous heroes of the rebellion and a show of upward mobility towards the peasantry which ISN'T A BAD THING when their support is VITAL in the reconstruction efforts. I would actually argue that, even including a Lady Cousland of an appropriate age there is NO better candidate of Fereldan heritage.
I actually think that a Cousland marriage would be ideal for Cailan and Anora's heir. It would consolidate power for the new monarchy with the second strongest family in the nation while also ensuring that a rival line cannot easily rebel against the still fragile Theirin rule. Eamon would have argued against such a match, likely wanting his own child second child on the throne along with the hypothetical heir. Connor might inherit Redcliffe but if Eamon had his way he'd want a girl to marry off to the crown.
However, I think that a daughter from Fergus would have been a far more politically astute match and one that Anora might have eyed. While his wife is just as foreign as Isolde, she's Antivan, not Orlesian. That is immediately a better mark on the child's record than Eamon's. He truly shot himself in the foot with any plan to marry his children into the royal family by marrying Isolde because he likely didn't anticipate that Cailan would leave such a match in Anora's hands.
(She's been lowkey running the logistics of the kingdom since their marriage while Cailan keeps up appearances which I don't even think would be such a raw deal for Anora if she had Cailan's full emotional support instead of just an laissez faire assumption of 'oh she's smarter than me so she'll handle such things.')
So Anora would sniff out Eamon's scheming for more power, would want to make a match for her child that would bring them the most stability and support for them and the nation. So, a Cousland spare would be a good bet. They are wildly popular, very strong, and have the same historical weight to throw around as the Theirins.
Basically, Eamon never had a fucking chance while Anora was in the picture and he knew it.
Like this to recieve a small (or maybe longer who can say) something from one of the kidlet muses. They are strong tonight.
Eamon's whole plan for Little Rowan, naming her after his royal dead sister, raising her be the best possible marriage candidate for Alistair's eventual male heir, yet having her grow up with Teagan as her primary guardian so that he could focus on the politicking necessary to make her queen-- Big 'Gold will be their crowns and their shrouds energy' right there starting with her being taken hostage by Alexius and culminating in her magic manifesting and the possibility of her being red lyrium poisoned.
