He doesn’t know how long she’s harboured these thoughts, but he doesn’t like it, and that shows easily in his face because he’s never been known to hide how he’s feeling, has always been known to wear his heart on his sleeve, so to speak, instead. He knows she must go home, learned of how crucial it is for her to return from the scattered pieces of information she has fed him, but worry rises regardless for her safety and takes it places heavy across his brow.
“It just... it just sounds so dangerous,” he mutters, crossing his arms. He kicks at the ground, unwilling to be cooperative simply because he doesn’t know if she’ll be safe. “I mean, I don’t know much, but I do know you won’t be safe, and that sucks, Edel,” he admits bluntly. But.. that doesn’t help at all, he knows. In the little time he’s known her, Edelgard has shown herself to be a headstrong and stubborn person, which oftentimes meant they would butt heads.
But, wait, he’s being stupid, isn’t he? He just has to convince her to take him with her, and then he can protect her. Then afterwards he can go back home and call it a day, right? And it might take ages, but he’s already dedicated to her safety. He doesn’t wanna go back on his word now. As the idea brightens his mind, so does his countenance. He perks up slightly, standing straighter, and he smiles in determination.
“Listen, I know you don’t want to see me hurt, and I get it! But its the same for me, you know? And if something happened to you, I’d hate it more that I wasn’t there to try prevent it. Maybe I don’t know the full story or all the risks, but I wanna help you, Edel. That hasn’t changed, you know? So just lemme come with you!”
