their shared apartment was filled with people she barely even knew; just familiar faces she sees along the corridors of their university. nonetheless, they continue to throw these parties every month to maintain their reputations--or at least his. majoring in theater arts, she’s not exactly on top of the food chain and she’s still known mostly as vinny’s sister. not everyone knew that they weren’t exactly related by blood. leaning against the wall with a non-alcoholic drink in hand, she took a sip from the straw as she nodded towards the blonde, a sophomore theater major who managed to beat her for the lead role for the spring play. let’s just say that valentina isn’t exactly very happy about that. moving in closer to him so she could whisper to his ear over the loud music playing. “what about that sophomore over there? i heard she’s quite a prude. i bet you won’t even be able to go to second base with her tonight,” the brunette snickered with a challenging look in her eyes, daring him to prove her wrong. val knows him well enough that he could never resist a challenge.

it's been quite a while since valentina has been back in her hometown and even longer since she has talked to him. the two didn’t really get a closure before she flew to los angeles to chase after her dreams of becoming an actress. and now, she returns as a pretty successful one. however, she wasn’t exactly expecting to be seeing him in a bar when she was catching up with some of her old friends. one second, she was at the bar buying another round for their group and the next thing she sees is the first boy she loved standing next to her. except that now--he’s obviously not a boy anymore and more of a man. when their eyes locked, she felt the color drain from her face as her feet remained rooted on her spot. her friends weren’t even aware of their relationship since her parents didn’t exactly approve of him. it was like seeing a ghost from her past, one that has been haunting her dreams. however, it would really be rude to not say anything, so she decided to force a smile on her scarlet lips. “uhm--hi! how have you been?”

▒ ღ — "MY SISTER JUST went out for her bachelorette party, so just meet me in room 413. and don't ask me how i got your number. we can talk about it now." valentina talked through the phone, leaving a message on his voicemail. she knew that the way she treated him wasn't right and it was making her feel guilty. unlike her family, she actually has a conscience and she can only do this tough girl act for so long. it's been a day since they've seen each other and the brunette has done everything to avoid him during the day. but this cannot be avoided any longer, not when he's getting married the day after tomorrow to her older sister. once she hanged up, val began pacing back and forth as she mulled over what to say to him. she should probably start it off with an apology, but she doubts he would accept any--especially when she threatened his life.

Avery was already a few drinks in when he made his way across the room, having debated with himself over the decision to cross the imaginary threshold towards a certain brunette for the last three drinks. It wasn’t as if he were actively avoiding Valentina, what with how much work he had to do to keep the leg of and international business afloat in a national state of emergency, but there was also much to think of strategically speaking as well. On the one hand, being seen with her would raise questions... but on the other hand, avoiding her in the face of the... accusations... made by that infuriating Rita woman could seal his guilt in just as well. 

Perhaps it was the liquor speaking -- he hadn’t allowed himself to indulge quite so much in Merlin knows how long -- but he found it harder to care what others thought, what his stepmother thought, of his sham of a marriage when the rest of Great Britain was crumbling around them. Who the fuck cared if he wasn’t with his nearly absent wife at a time like this anyway? It wasn’t as if there was much to be suspicious of otherwise, Avery had made absolutely certain of that. With a final tip of his drink he allowed the empty glass to hit the counter besides the woman, a sudden jolt of confidence (no doubt encouraged by the alcohol and his mental pep talk) had a smirk tugging at his lips.

“Well -- if it isn’t my partner in crime! Any new scandals lately I should be aware of?”

no matter how many times valentina has done this already, she still couldn't contain her excitement for the upcoming premier night of her new film. she was practically restless in her apartment as she paced back and forth in front of clara. "i just--i still can't believe that tomorrow is the premier night and i'm acting like a kid before christmas," she expressed with a hearty chuckle, her eyes gleaming like fairy lights as she finally came into a halt a few steps away from her. "you'll come see me, right?" the brunette questioned their lover with a huge, hopeful smile on her lips. although the two weren't exactly out in the public yet, they were known to be very close friends so there was no issue with them being seen together in these events.

"And that's a wrap!" the photographer called out, the photo shoot for her new movie was successful and they didn't even work overtime. Receiving fanmails wasn't uncommon for the rising star and she loved reading every single one of them. However, one particular mail has caught her attention-- one which contained photos of her that were taken from her home, which was an invasion of her privacy. It didn't look like a paparazzi shot though since none of them were released to the public, so her manager came to a conclusion that she might have a stalker. After discussing the aformentioned topic, they decided to tighten her security and get her a new bodyguard. Growing up in the Gotti crime family, she wasn't new to this sort of situations but she didn't particularly like having someone following her every movement. However, what she didn't realize sooner was how fun it could be to torment the male sometimes, purposely bringing him along while she goes shopping. Changing into her casual clothes, Valentina bid her coworkers farewell as she headed straight for him once she spotted his figure. With a large smile across her lips, the brunette asked him cheerfully, "So, how did I do?"

Narrowed eyes watched the girl shout at him, he knew she would be blaming him if she was going to regret what happened between the two of them. It was inevitable, and this was simply the result; her shouting at him in anger, blaming him that he was the cause of their encounter. Fingers scratched and pulled the dark hairs that covered his jawline as he sighed in irritation. “I told you that we shouldn’t do it, I told you we should have quit before we went to far. Yet, you didn’t want to, you pushed further until I let myself being pulled into this mess we’re in now. That you dare to blame me for.”

"You're older! You should have known better!" Valentina bellowed at him, fingers rubbing her temple frustratedly as she tried to remember just what the hell she was thinking for letting something happen between the two of them. Clearly, she wasn't in her right mind but she never was once she has a taste of alcohol. Pointing fingers at him wasn't really a good solution but she needed someone else to blame other than herself, even though she knew she was partly at fault. "If my father learned about this, he's going to kill you then probably take me back unwillingly."
