He felt foolish. Going through the trouble of ordering flowers and purchasing them for someone was something he never thought he would do. It would’ve been easier to go with a card, scribble in a heartfelt message and wipe his hands clean of the holiday. It was ridiculous that Valentine’s Day existed in the first place, only another day for corporations to raise prices on greeting cards and roses. It was the reason why he didn’t go with cliché and present some dull bouquet for Ozymandias. (1/2)
Boring roses didn’t suite him at all. Sunflowers, on the other hand. “They’re yellow, and your eyes are… Ah, well, I suppose the shade does not match, uhm…” Lips pursed, color found the tips of his ears as words remained on the tip of his tongue, the bouquet held out awkwardly to the other. Eloquence in romance wasn’t his strongest suit, but he did his best, tried to make some effort for the man he found more tolerable than others. “Just accept it as a small token of my affection.” (2/2)
PERHAPS IT WAS A strange thought, but he had not expectedEl-Melloi to get him anything. It was not the least bit necessary, but hesupposed they were very much alike in the fact that if someone gave them agift, they gave one in return. Then again…perhaps that was too simplistic aview to have when it came to his Master. After all, he felt that even if he hadnot given him anything, that he would have still been on El-Melloi’s mind onthis most intriguing day. Blinking, he was taken aback as a bouquet of sunflowerswas held out for him, confusion present within his eyes as he looked from theflowers to El-Melloi as if uncertain of the image he was seeing. If someonewere to have told him a long time ago that a moment like this would transpire,he would have laughed and thought them mad.
He smiled, amused by the redness of El-Melloi’s ears and theclear embarrassment that was felt. Oh how clumsy with words the other was whenplaced into a situation like this one; however, it was endearing and so verymuch him. What he lacked ineloquence he made up for in honesty, so that was fine. ❝How did you know I held afondness for these flowers?❞ he asked, taking the flowers from the other man and allowinghis fingers to gently caress its soft petals. ❝I have never seen such a thing in myera, and yet…when I look upon them, they give me a feeling ofwarmth very much like their namesake. I wish my Egypt had these. They wouldhave surely enhanced its beauty.❞ Sunflowers. Flowers of the sun. It was most fitting for aman like himself to be given the ‘sun’ in a form like this.
His attention eventually drifted away from the bouquet, asoft smile still very much present even as he stepped close and gently held the other’shand. ❝Thankyou, Waver. I am glad I was on your mind as much as you were on mine today.❞Nothing else needed to be said as he leaned in and placed a gentle kiss to theother’s lips. ❝I shall treasure these flowers.❞
