He huffs and then sighs, mustering up a grin. Everything feels utterly bleak doesn't it? But he couldn't ask for a better friend than Thomas. They've quickly grown closer than anyone here, always doing assignments together or running no man's land side by side. To have someone he can rely on like that is worth more than anything in this god forsaken world.
Sometimes, some part of him wonders if their relationship breaches the boundaries of friendship into something more, but he never brings it up. It feels like something sacred, like if he says it out loud it'll ruin things. Besides, he doesn't want to scare Thomas off....
"That's fine," is what he eventually says, glancing over at him with a slight grin. "What, scared of the dark, Blake? Don't worry, I've got you."
