Except the Paladins bonded best with their lions when connected with the original Paladins. Allura herself attempted to bond with Blue through mimicking Lance.

Perhaps another reason Allura doesn't get on with the Blades is because she disagrees with their mantra: 'Knowledge or Death'. Knowledge allows for progress but it strikes unease into the hearts of the people she holds close. Allura wishes to protect them.
