Hermione and Draco have both left England (Hermione after her and Ron broke up and in an effort to become closer to her parents who are struggling to trust her post-memory charm, and Draco, who was trying to escape the stigma of his past with the Death Eaters) and are now living in Sydney, Australia as neighbours. They’re best friends, but they both secretly harbour feelings for each other. 

I wasn’t a huge fan of the side pairings in this (Theo x Ginny and Harry x Pansy) but that’s obviously personal preference. I also found it a little far-fetched that Hermione wouldn’t have stayed in contact with at least Harry. To me, the moment where Draco and Hermione get together was somewhat anti-climatic. 

The writing style isn’t my favourite: the focus is largely on descriptions of surroundings, small details that don’t really add anything to the story, and the characters lack depth and development in my opinion. It’s a cute story but it’s just not one of my favourites.

Ginny is determined that Hermione isn’t going to die an old lonely spinster, so she throws her a 30th birthday party with eligible bachelors as the guest list. 

Meanwhile, Hermione (who is working at the Ministry fighting for the rights of House Elves) has to put up with Draco Malfoy who has come into her office once a week for the past year to complain about his house elves (that he has freed and now pays). 

On the night of the birthday party, Cormac McLaggen is the only guest who shows up and he really loves Hermione’s bunny slippers. This fic had me laughing out loud. 

Eventually, Draco Malfoy turns up to the party...

A really well written, hilarious fic!
