6. Was there anything you meant to read, but never got to?

I had my goal of reading all of the recommended books for the year and did that, also more than doubled my reading goal in general, so I don't think so! I had a good year in books this year!

12. Any books that disappointed you?

The same answer as my 'overhyped' question, Fourth Wing was sold to me as "Top Gun but with dragons" and. it was not that. very unfortunately. Also read The Anxious Generation which was interesting in the light of the minimum 16 year old age for social media law that was just passed because it was arguing for that, anyway it was also bad and made me kinda mad. I wanted to like Space Opera because two of my friends read and liked it but I felt like it was trying too hard. I don't know if I can say Rebecca disappointed me because i had no expectations, but it was the only book that I gave 1 star to this year so that should tell you something.

17. Did any books surprise you with how good they were?

I generally go in pretty blind to books, so I don't usually have expectations going in. Probably Nevada by Imogen Binnie comes close, I didn't expect anything but was blown away by how good it was. Maybe also A Higher Call by Adam Makos because the cover looks kind of lame, but the story slapped.

24. Did you DNF anything? Why?

Nope, I finish everything that I start!

1. favorite fic you wrote this year

Darkest before the dawn!! This fic had me by the throat, I wrote 50k of it in 15 days and then finished the rest of it in another 4 weeks to get to 81k total. It was genuinely just *drops yearning, grief, anger, helplessness, smut, sadness, tenderness, together in a pot and stirs* like I could write it so quickly because there was very little plot. It was basically 90% raw emotion and people trying to cope with horrible trauma and I've gotten SUCH responses from it that honestly I didn't expect. All those codywaners out there are the real ones 💖

5. most popular fic this year

I feel like I have to say Limerance, just because of how it dwarfs all my other fics in popularity lmao. I did upload 4 chapters which was about ~25k of words this year in April, so I have worked on it, which means it counts, right? To show how big the discrepency is, here's my AO3 stats page lol

2 of these are Supernatural and 2 are BNHA and the other is an ATLA oneshot I am still constantly surprised is as popular as it is. No HZD or KH in my top five hits... this is my villain origin story

10. shortest wip of the year

adore this question, like first of all what does it mean 😂 Like something I don't have complete but is started?? Probably one of my exchange fics which is a 'wip' in that an idea for it vaguely exists and I need to have it written soon, but I actually haven't put pen to paper yet. Really need to get on that lmao

jhff errr... um... SO many. so many.

I have a few wips on ao3, all of which I would like to finish - there are 5 of those, including Limerance, 3 HZD wips, and 1 mandalorian fic which I actually super want to complete before the end of the year.

Then I have the ones that aren't on ao3, and mannnn. I have 18 codywan wips (this is only including fics that I have actually written something for...) and then 2 exchange fics that are also in progress at the moment. Plus, 3 more that are started (2 kingdom hearts and 1 ffxv) that I'm excited about and definitely want to post eventually!

This is a long winded way to say that I have 28 wips at the moment...

23. fics you wanted to write but didn’t

inch resting question... I guess I really wanted to try and finish Limerance this year, but it super didn't happen haha. I think it probably needs another 50-70k before it would be done, but that's a lot! I also want to keep writing my sorikai re:write series, I actually got the first chapter of that done this year and planned out most of the chapters but when I did that I was like THIS IS GOING TO BE LIKE 70K and so I've paused at like having 8k of it done. But it's all planned and I really adore the concept, so I do want to finish it!! Maybe that can be next year's goal... if codywan ever lets go of it's death grip on me haha 🤪🤪

4. Favourite non-Byleth pairing?

SYLVIX RIGHTS... Sylvain and Felix’s support chain is so good, and their BL ending is great, and I love all their monastery interactions. Plus they’re childhood friends, so I was basically primed to love this ship. 

8. Favourite Golden Deer character?

Honestly probably Claude. He’s the main lord and gets the most screen time, so it makes sense that he has the most depth of characterisation and development, since the entire Golden Deer route is focused on him. 

12. How many routes have you completed?

All of them! I just finished today :D

16. Favourite Lord?

Theoretically Edelgard, but in my heart Claude. I love everything that they’ve done with Edelgard, but she doesn’t get enough characterisation or development to really have captured my heart like Claude has.

Sothis and Edelgard! I love that you can have gay marriage in this game... feels good 

28. Did you like the plot?

Pretty mixed on it, honestly. There are some really interesting things, but there is also a lot of plot holes that are really obvious and could have been dealt with a lot better. Overall though, I liked it!

Yes! I’ve played Awakening, Shadows of Valentia, Warriors, and Heroes!

Xehanort... I know that there has to be an antagonist, but also there doesn’t need to be an antagonist bc I just want to see them all exploring disney worlds together and building their friendships and having adventures, and also he isn’t even a good antagonist, and also he’s stinky

XIGBAR... he’s an asshole on purpose and in sneaky ways, and plays the long con, that makes him more of an asshole than say, Larxene, who is bitchy but doesn’t hold grudges probably

13. Biggest accomplishment in the game?

Platinum’d DDD! It took a while, but those funky little dreameaters got me through it

16. What kind of music does Roxas listen to?

REAL moody things probably, no lyrics, or lyrics in a different language than he understands. He emo-ly stands in the rain listening to weird substep while crouched on the building of a rood, probably. 

18. Be honest, who is your NOTP and why?

Adult/minor ships obvs, but also I can’t stand Terra/ Aqua... sorry Aqua is a lesbian and Terra is aro, I really can’t see them being romantically involved at all. They’re good friends! That’s it. 

27. When did you cry?

I honestly always tear up at the end of KH2 when Sora and Riku read Kairi’s note and find themselves back on Destiny Islands... that version of Sanctuary has my heart in a vice

Nope. Though if I ever saw Utada Hikaru or Yoko Shimomura (not even meet, just see them with my own eyes) I’d probably like, pass out or something ridiculous.

Thinking of you, wherever you are. We pray for our sorrows to end, and hope that our hearts will blend. Now I will step forwards to realise this wish. And who knows – starting a new journey may not be so hard. Or maybe it’s already begun. There are many worlds, but they share the same sky. One sky – one destiny.

95. Why is "who else will I have ice cream with" such an important line?

Because Xion is such an important character... this line really shows how Roxas feels - how alone he is, how devastated he is by killing his only real remaining friend. I know a lot of people slam Roxas for saying ‘who else will I have ice cream with’ as someone is dying in his arms, but he’s just a baby! Not even one year old, doesn’t have any memories or any knowledge of how to deal with his emotions - so for me this line really is the crux of 358/2 Days, and it really encapsulates Roxas’s character in that game. As Xion lies dying in his arms, he asks her who else he can eat ice cream with - what he’s come to think of as the one activity he has to express his personhood - because she’s his last remaining friend, and he really doesn’t have anyone else. This is why Days is a tragedy!
