Arcade Fire love to use the first person plural as their narrative voice in their songs. The tension in their music is often "us versus them." why Win Butler used to wear what seemed like military uniforms as his fashion choice. This song may be the ultimate example of the first person plural, "we" in their songs. Here the statement is existential and simple, "We exist."
