The Ten Commandments given to man

forbidding greed, murder and covetousness;

Yet here we are murdering the Earth,

Deaf to its cries,

Blind to its wounds;

We carry on our murderous exploits

guilt-free.

Each galaxy is separated

by eighty thousand light years

Yet we never planned on a getaway

Why?

Because there is no Planet B.

 Eight

Eight planets in our solar system

Yet not one

that has the incredulous ability to support life

Yet here we are

taking for granted the protection we freely receive

Eight hours;

the average time a human sleeps

No wonder why

we choose to 'sleep on it.'

 Seven

Seven continents, a seven-billion population,

seven wonders of the world

All co-existing

with the least co-operation,

Our egos clash

We're waging wars;

Pity, how we thought our home could

afford to pay the heavy price of our skirmishes.

 Six

Six days of creation

the outcome of which

is a beautiful blue planet,

that teems with life and colours

But we would rather bedeck our houses

Is the Earth not your home?

 Five

Five superpowers

USA, UK, Russia, France, China

Here to safeguard our virtues

peace and equality

Here to stand for democracy

however forced it may seem

Establishing the sole superpower-

the main agenda,

But what about the very land

the sole of your foot rests upon?

Or are you that insensitive,

summoning sensitivity when it comes down

to the safeguarding of your own assets;

the Earth you never considered your own.

 Four

Four aids to help you discern,

Two eyes and two ears,

both to see and to hear,

saving our home is our top priority;

So use your aids to foresee and foretell.

 Three

Three lights in a traffic signal for resources-

Red says 'stop'- Know it's time to look for an alternative

Ochre says 'wait'- It's time to regenerate

Green says 'go'- Remember, we're using within limits

Yes, Neo-determinism is as easy as one-two-three.

Two

Two poles

The North and the South are calling

summoning all the help they can gather

We can collectively tend to the ice caps

from withing the boundaries of our own houses.

 One

One Earth

One accessible solar system

One thought

can pave the way

to a limitless possibility

a truth so vicious

it sets all things in place;

We are aware,

now we practice

Unfathomable ransoms demand hasty payments-

So pay up.

 Zero

Zero possibilities,

Zero chances

for when the Earth has lost

its will

to live on for its gluttonous perpetrators-

Nothing for you

Nothing for me,

Zero signs of life,

Zeroes,

you and me.

Photomontage artist and activist Peter Kennard has reworked images from his book @earth ahead of the G8's meeting in Enniskillen in June 2013. 

The idea is to distribute these images online, in print and on the street.

Peter will be carrying out street interventions and setting up guerilla street galleries as part of his own Stop G8 protest. 

These images are copy-left and project files are available on request for you to make your own adaptations.
