INTERVIEW WITH ATROCIITY PART 1 !
What inspired you guys to make this brand ? who owns it too? where are you guys from !
-We're Amy Natera and Israel Castillo and we are the creators behind our brand, ATROCIITY. So we're from this city, Phoenix, in Arizona, where the fashion industry is little-to-nothing. We know how hard it is to find really cool clothes for lower prices, so we thought, “why not make our own”? We thought we’d come up with a few ideas, and bring the light of fashion into the hands of people who wouldn't normally be able to afford it.
What's up with the name ? is there an origin to this name?
-So we wanted something cool and easy to say. One night when we got the idea of starting a hat brand, we were looking for a name that fit the description of teared and distressed clothing. While stumbling on a couple words, which we obviously rejected, we thought of the word "atrocity", meaning an extremely wicked or cruel act, typically one involving physical violence. And so it clicked, we loved everything behind it; it fit perfectly to what we were looking for. So we came to a conclusion that ATROCIITY must represent the future of our brand.
What was one of your favorite photoshoots you guys have done for the brand !
-Our favorite shoot we’ve done for ATROCIITY would probably have to be the most recent one, for our Sad Collection. It was like our vision came to life. The shots completely embodied a sad but rad feel we had in mind when coming up with the collection.
I heard that one of your chokers is named after faux_dolly ? what's the story behind that !
-When Tatiana followed us, we completely fell in love with her aesthetic. We thought we finally found someone with the same mindset as us. This was at the time when we were thinking of adding chokers to our line. We loved her screen name, Faux Dolly, and when we came up with the choker itself, we thought about her immediately. We then asked her permission to name it after her, and that’s how it all came about!
Have you guys ever done a fashion show for your stuff?
-As our line gets bigger, and so does our following, we really want to put on a show for people to see our brand in movement. It would be incredible if in the near future we get to showcase our name ;)
So do you guys also make the clothes ?
-The shirts themselves- like the blank, solid colored tees, we get from a vendor. We both completely design each piece ourselves, and hand-make the set for each order we send out.
If you guys had a chance, what brand would you collaborate with ?
-We would looove to collaborate with UNIF- such rad clothing.
Who are your inspirations ?
-YEEZY x GUCCI would probably have to be our biggest inspirations, both brands we are so infatuated with.
Do you guys have any collections coming out soon ?
-We actually do! It’s more on the reinvented, ‘one of a kind’ type of series. And we’re so excited to come out with it soon! ;)
