I can’t believe that we are already into the second week of the New Year (2016) and I haven’t written a blog since October 2015!
I have been slightly busy….no, very busy with one or two projects. One of which was having my Art Studio built and decorated etc.

Sometimes I have to laugh at myself when I say that I took early retirement from the library service, as I have worked on a casual basis for them almost as much as if I’d still been there full-time! Recently, I have been working for the local Tourist Information centre too, to cover sickness.
I’m also planning a trip to India in March, so I need the extra money and have been sourcing all sorts of items that I think I may need to take with me. …particularly mosquito repellent. Insects seem to like the taste of my blood for some unknown reason!
But I try to find a little time for my ongoing obsession….Shah Rukh Khan.
In between my work shifts, I like nothing better than to draw or paint him. Especially to honour his movies. Lately, I have tried to draw/paint a picture to celebrate the anniversary of each movie as the date draws near.
I’m not always successful in this endeavour, and it shows in some of my work :p

I have sold a few items, but it is early days yet and it is difficult to get noticed in this kind of marketplace. There’s too much choice out there and not enough discerning people who appreciate art!

So, whereas I’ve not had much time for blogging, I’ve still managed to squeeze in some time for drawing/painting.

A special Sketch for Shah Rukh Khan’s 50th Birthday. Knowing how special Suhana is to him, I wanted to draw this one of father and daughter during one of the winning matches of Kolkata Knight Riders.
I did draw another colour sketch of SRK & Suhana for his birthday, which I sent to him at Mannat. Whether he received it or not, I may never know :(

I’ve been experimenting with blendable coloured pencils, which I may have mentioned in my last blog. Sketching/drawing is a lot quicker than painting (no need to wait for paint to dry) and I think people like to see colour in a picture.
Just a quick ‘doodle’, to celebrate Baazigar. I love this song-‘Yeh kaali kaali Aankhein’ and think those jeans he is wearing are fab!
I’ve been gratified by some of my posts on Twitter making it to the top of the Trending lists in India. This was one of them.

And I can never watch ‘Kal Ho Na Ho‘ without crying. Particularly at the wedding scene and the end-of course!
Another sketch using blendable pencils. I really struggled to make these colours blend. Think I mixed my types of pencil up again, resulting in a gloopy mess which is difficult to erase. However, I think I’ve captured the cute/adorable expression of ‘Ram Jaane‘ here.
For the celebration of ‘Rab Na Bana Di Jodi‘, I ran a poll on Twitter to see which of SRK’s characters was most popular from this movie. It was a close run thing, with Suri beating Raj to the post by only a few votes. Does that say something? Possibly more about the character, than about my ability to draw, Ha ha!
Back to the easel and the water-colour paints for this picture. I think I must have had a few days rest from working before the final mad rush of Christmas. This painting of ‘Kabhi Khushie Kabhie Gham‘ was on an A3 sized canvas. It looks a lot more vibrant in real life.
Again, I topped the Trends with this one :D

And I must stop trying to paint pictures when I have very limited time. NO, please don’t point out all the obvious faults.. I know there are many!!! Though I have to admit that I was concentrating mostly on cute lil Romi in this painting of ‘Trimurti‘.
I’m afraid that I have to confess that these pictures from ‘Darr‘ were ones which I drew a year or so ago. but since my time had started to run out in the lead-up to Christmas, I posted them again on Twitter.
