Star Thieves: The Short (StarThieves, 12/31/19)
Shakaejehn royalty must commit at least one cycle of service before claiming their birthright to rule. This is true even for Kai - an entitled, arrogant, aristocrat. Kai is the newest member of the Shanai, a group of seven highly trained, combat ready explorers who are assigned to travel the multiverse harvesting stars.
While absorbing a star, he hears the voices of sentient beings dying and suddenly disappears, teleporting out of the safety of the Shanai "Tear" (their means of traveling the multiverse) and unintentionally jumping to Earth. After a year of searching, Aimee and the Shanai find Kai on Earth where he attempts to show them that intelligent lifeforms dwell on the planet, and that they’ve been lied to by Deva, the Shanai's High Priestess, and the ruling Council. Kai then introduces them to Jamie, a woman on Earth who has a marking from the Shanai's home planet.
Unbeknownst to them, Deva has sent the Presidia, an elite military force of three operatives, to Earth to capture the Shanai and absorb the Earth’s star. When the Presidia arrive, the Shanai attempt to stop the harvesting process and a large battle erupts. The group must turn to Jamie to try to prevent a global genocide.
