task 001 || zeke and echo’s seaside shack
ezekiel went homeless for nearly two years to be able to scrape up enough funds to pay for the simple little home on the sea shore for his sister and himself. it’s not much, but it’s more than enough to make the siblings happy. it sits right on the shore so that the lapping water nearly kisses the foundation when the tide is high. the kitchen and living area are one open space filled with necessities and surfboard stacked into the ceiling rafters.
there is only one bedroom in the back of the house nearest the water. ezekiel takes the bed while echo is happiest to sleep in a hammock strung up in the corner of the room. wooden figurines and clay sculpted works line the shelves and larger wood sculptures haunt the front porch and yard. there is a large bonfire pit near the shoreline that is probably used to cook even more than the kitchen is.
task 001 || the killick family home
the killick family has been living on the cliffs of galway for as long as history has been recorded. no one in the family can quite agree when the old, original stonework was actually erected, but even the ghosts seem to agree that it was the third family home on the property and the only one that managed to withstand the tests of time. several additions to the main building have been added over the generations making the home slowly and slowly more grand and labyrinthian. it shifted the architecture from a castle to something different and hard to define, whimsical and mythic all at once. at points, three or four branches of the killick family would all live together at once and more than one generation of each. truly, in all ways, it was a family home.
lavender fields surround the far reaching yard, there is a vineyard in the east property, and wild irish roses have long grown in the vines that creep into the stones and around the window panes. there is a mausoleum in the south of the property where nearly every family member has been buried since, as legend would say, the morrigan herself. likely, it’s why every corner of the house has always been filled with familial ghosts laughing and teasing and drinking well into the nights surrounded by their more lively posterity. their portraits, both photograph and painting, hang on every conceivable wall.
the basement was converted to a distillery by her grandfather who loved to makes every sort of wine, spirit, whiskey, and beer. meanwhile on the opposite end of the house, strife took over the attic as her room. she loved to pin feathers to her ceiling and collect oddities from the yard to litter about. her brother used to help her fold paper critters to decorate the space, but strife loved the singular stained glass window above her bed the most.
seraphina’s penthouse
the penthouse had originally been julian’s when sera decided she liked it and moved in, forcing her brother to buy another place across town. it has a wide open floor plan so that she can see almost every corner from anywhere in the home. sera redecorated even before his last box was moved out with her particular flare for color. the art regularly changes and no wall remained the same color for too long with the exception of those around her bed- they are a constant pink.
there aren’t any keys to the place as sera kept losing them and finally gave up. the floor remains consistently unlocked. on one side there is a pool for her to swim laps on off practice days with an extensively stocked bar glowing with neon lights. the kitchen is small and consists of the bare minimum counter space. there is a stove, but it goes completely unused. the fridge is usually filled more with drinks than anything else. there’s an extensive game area with a pool table, ping pong, darts, foosball, and gobstones. most of sera’s quidditch trophies are displayed among them.
near the main entrance, there’s the sitting area. it has plush pillows and furry blankets. more often than not, she’ll end up asleep in the cushions when she can’t make it back to her bed. she whines a lot about how much glitter is in the fabric. there’s a thick safe under a rug here. sera keeps anything important in there, but jackson is the only one who remembers the combination. there are no bookshelves or books to speak of.
her bed is on an elevated platform with several backlit mirrors and wardrobes that are overstuffed with clothes, shoes, and accessories. sera keeps her quidditch gear in her bedside table and has a rack of assorted brooms near the steps. she does not know how to turn on or off her lights save for using a spell which usually she forgets anyway so the rooms remain either bright with sunlight filtering through the colored glass panes or dimly lit by accent lights.
black family greenhouse
the greenhouse had always felt the most like home of anywhere in the black manor estate. even her bedroom paled in comparison to the old glass enclosure that housed her most poisonous plants and the bugs. narcissa remembered stumbling onto the old place vividly. she was just a little girl, certainly no older than four years old. her aunt lucretia had taken her out for a walk, and told her that no one had used it since her great grandmother grew asphodel inside. every time cissy managed to evade her mother after that, the greenhouse was the first place she went. the wrought iron framework that held together the opaque glass panes loomed over the enclosure. so much of this place was her. the frosty windows, the gothic steeple, the smell of dirt and metal and dew. with the help of several house elves, it became usable again. so narcissa learned to use it. she grows hemlock, nightshade, peppermint, moondew, snake root, oleander, thistle, belladonna, monkshood, mistletoe, mugwort, and foxglove. she has also created a bug sanctuary inside with luna moths, wolf spiders, tiger beetles, flower crab spiders, rosema lappa, scarab beetles, and several others.
malfoy manor stables
it was an instantaneous sort of love. the moment that narcissa first set foot into the stables, she felt that familiar sense of calm security that her greenhouse had always given her. unlike her greenhouse, the stables were in perfect upkeep. narcissa always had a soft spot for animals. the horses were gentle and patient, and she could spend hours brushing them and plaiting loving braids into their manes. it was a very relaxing habit. the stables became her secondary respite. it was an easy place to disappear. she always thought it best on winter mornings when narcissa could take her books and read all day without disturbance (something she suspected had always been instructed rather than accidental).
ladonhill
damocles bought the old, welsh, cliffside mansion the instant that he had the funds to do so. luckily the wealth from his potion was near endless now and no decadent extravagance needed to be spared. the rumor was that it was a haunted place, a mystery which is still unsolved technically, but it was certainly secluded enough that the pair could live in peace from disturbance of outsiders. there was plenty of room for training dragons on the rocky fields in the front of the property and flying over the brisk seaside in the back. there are at least thirty rooms in the massive estate, most of which are filled with puzzles or paintings or trinkets or potion ingredients from all over, and no room lacking in interesting tidbits and baubles. it is a very good house to explore at all hours of the day which has managed to keep her endeared to the place indefinitely. the eccentric who originally built it included several hidden passages and at least one staircase which leads to no where (yet). at first, winnie was not certain about committing to a grounded living situation as she preferred the nomadic lifestyle of her childhood, but this is definitely a better way to keep all her stuff. however, winnie has declared the basement her personal den as ‘a mad scientists belong in the attic’ anyway. it took her three days to find the place with no instruction. marble likes to patrol regularly near the front door whereas cracks sleeps in the cave nearest the basement door.
moody’s flat
alastor isn’t at home very often. so he doesn’t put much effort into it. he has a modest flat that is largely filled with metal framework and bricks. there are an abundant amount of locked metal drawers, files, and cabinets of various sizes. trinkets and prizes from various landmarks in his career litters the free surfaces. there are also a couple foe glass mirrors on the walls with wards in every corner. the bed is out in the middle of the floor under his large wall of windows. in the other corner is a punching bag and work out area to make sure that he doesn’t lose his touch when he’s not out on a mission.
