“all i’m asking if you’ve slept with him.” nate asked as he couldn’t stomach the food in front of him. all his thoughts flooded back to the time he caught her with another man. they were kissing right outside of the home they shared. people talked about it with him but he couldn’t bare himself to believe it. she was the love of his life but he’d now seen her with another man with his own two eyes. “what? now you’ve been caught you have no idea what to answer? you’ve made up all these excuses before but now you can’t?” an eerily calm voice he had but inside he was fuming and broken. it’d taken so much will power not to destroy everything in sight. “speak up.”

After wandering through the center, looking at the fish and getting to know his surroundings, Ezra eventually found a spot to sit in and snuggle in the blanket he’d brought with him. Having brought practically an entire library because he was always indecisive when it came to which book to read, he fumbled through his bag. Kerouac, Fitzgerald, Atwood, Steinbeck... he sighed.

He didn’t feel like reading with the crowd around him, and he felt the beginning of a headache crawling up to him. The English teacher then stood up, grabbed his blanket and threw his bag on his shoulder. His gaze, shifting around the room, finally fell on a familiar face. He made his way towards the now-grown man.

“Hey, Nathan, how’s it going?” Ezra asked, immediately recognizing the one who’d once been a student in his class.

nate drew closer to the other with his hand cupping their face, forcing them to look at him. in that moment as he honey-gazed to the other, he could hear the staggered breathing and knew that they were because of him. he pinned for them for so long that it felt like he was losing himself in the madness. what he didn’t know was they felt the same for him, “if you’ve been waiting for falling in love,” his voice and timid as if he was afraid he might say the wrong words that could drive them away but his touch was the opposite. it was sure and unwavering, “baby, you don’t have to wait on me.”
