* IMPORTANT ! HEADCANON :  PAST  VS  PRESENT .   

We’ve  been  studying  a  lot  of  post-structuralist  theory  in  class  ,  and  it’s  probably  one  of  my  favorite  philosophies  to  talk  about .  Post-structuralist  theory  basically  states  that  all  meaning  is  derived  from  difference  (  for  example :  the  cold  is  not  just  ‘cold’  alone ,  it  is  cold  because  there  is  an  absence  of  heat  ) .  I  think  that  it’s  one  of  the  best  ways  I  can  describe / explain  the  difference  between  Genesis  and  Genevieve .  

Yes ,  they  both  maintain  the  same  foundation  ,  but  their  moral  principles  and  behavior  are  defined  by  their  experiences .  

GENESIS  was  like  a  hard  reset .  She  lost  a  good  chunk  of  her  memories  coming  right  out  of  experimentation .  In  that  moment ,  Genevieve  Ryder  was  no  longer  Genevieve  Ryder ,  but  an  individual  vulnerable  to  shifting  ideals  with  a  set  of  skills  that  could  be  easily  tailored  for  Talon’s  convenience .  Her  original  personality  had  diminished ,  and  was  instead  built  up  from  rage , cynicism ,  and  submission .  As  her  memories  steadily  come  back ,  Genesis  is  cognizant  of  her  place  and  role ,  knowing  she  will  never  return  to  her  original  state  after  having  tarnished  her  reputation ( it’s  part  of  the  reason  why  she  even  stays  with  Talon ) .  Today ,  she  is  labeled  an  assassin ,  defined  by  her  kills ,  her  trauma ,  and  her  drive  for  escapism .   

GENEVIEVE ,  on  the  other  hand ,  was  a  gentler  individual .  She  sought  the  practice  of  medicine  as  a  means  to  do  good ,  and  her  curious  nature  landed  her  in  the  realm  of  bio-engineering .  Genevieve  was  extremely  shy  and  caring ,  but  emotional  and  naive  --- -  stereotypically  pisces !  She  was  a  selfless  person  who  would  do  anything  and  more  if  it  meant  saving / helping  lives ,  especially  so  with  friends  and  family . Her  ambitious  nature  had  arose  from  a  strict  education  and  military  training  regiment ( whether  it  be  the  air  force  or  blackwatch ) .  Dr . Ryder  was  labeled  a  scientist ,  defined  by  her  thirst  for  knowledge  and  her  drive  to  revolutionize  the  medical  engineering  field .
