Actor David Duchovny has signed on to narrate Veselka: The Rainbow on the Corner at the Center of the World, a documentary about a Ukrainian restaurant in New York City that has mobilized to aid Ukraine following Russia’s brutal invasion of that country.
Duchovny grew up within shouting distance of the restaurant, located in Manhattan’s Little Ukraine. The film directed by Michael Fiore examines the origins of the establishment, the relationship of father-son proprietors Tom and Jason Birchard, and the restaurant’s efforts to support Ukraine in a moment of existential crisis.

David Duchovny grew up two blocks north of Veselka and witnessed the evolution of both the storefront and neighborhood over the decades.

Duchovny, the Golden Globe-winning and Emmy-nominated star of The X-Files, Californication, and the recently released What Happens Later (directed by and co-starring Meg Ryan), said, “I’m grateful for the very meaningful opportunity to lend my voice to a place and a part of the city that’s a big part of my childhood, history, and heritage.”
