“You have something in your hair - let me get it for you.” Xavier comes through the others hair to pull a few leaves out. “I’m surprised they didn’t burn.” He laughed, only joking. (lookinlikefoolz)

Unsurprisingly Kiawe’s first instinct was to jerk his head away, or worse, to swat at the blond’s well-meaning hand. Instead he stood his ground and kept his cool. Once Xavier proffered the offending leaves, he even managed to produce a smile, though a tentative one. Kiawe wasn’t exactly used to such a display—at least not from anyone apart from Mimo or, on a bad day, his mother. It showed a kind of caring or even intimacy that the trial captain simply wasn’t used to.
As had become a customary part of his interactions with Xavier, he flushed deeply. “Ah... thanks, I guess.”
He ran a hand through his hair, spiky as usual despite the breeze, then decided to change tack. Perhaps he could turn some of Xavier’s ‘tactics’—the ones that always seemed to leave him tongue-tied, or worse, flustered—back on him. Turn the tables, so to speak. The fact that he was viewing their exchange almost like a pokémon battle in itself escaped Kiawe entirely.
“You’d think a few leaves here or there’d make me look rugged. What do you think?” With that, he struck a pose—half in jest and half absolutely serious—flexing his biceps for Xavier’s benefit.
