She hadn’t even hesitated to take the hit for Oliver, running at their attacker and shoving her son out of the way just as the villain had swung out, super strength sending her flying backward and into a wall. She’d hit her head hard, really hard. She must have blacked out too because the next thing she knows, Oliver is talking to her and he sort of sounds really far away at first, but he’s getting clearer.
The woman opens her mouth to reply but the only thing that comes out in a pained groan and she forces her eyes open, light only making the already unbearable pounding in her head worsen.
Ollie knew he dropped the ball on this one, because the moment she went flying his attention left the bad guy. How could he focus on capturing him when his mom could be dying? So he screamed her name and took off running across the roof, skidding on his knees the last few feet to her side. The villain got away, his mom wasn’t responding- this had to be the worst patrol of his career.
He shook her lightly, only finding slight relief when she opened her eyes. She was in pain, she wasn’t answering him. Fuck. Fuck. He carefully pulled her head onto his lap, tears slipping down his cheeks as he called in for help. “S-stay with me, okay?”

Ollie only just kept himself from stomping his feet (he was fourteen, not four, he could control himself) as he glared at his mom. How could she do this to him?
“This is so stupid.” He hissed, voice taking on a vibrato as vibrations rolled through his body. “Mom, we both know they don’t want me here! I can figure this out on my own. Please don’t make me train with him.”
Two months ago, if you’d have told him he’d have the opportunity to train with the Flash, he’d be ecstatic. Now he dreaded it.
