“ I’m glad you were born.” “Thanks… I’m glad you were too.”
She pouted, propping her chin on the backs of her hands. “How are you?”
“I’m fine. Why do you ask?” He replies, raising an eyebrow.
@eggplantcapes:
“Sure, Ollie and we’ll have milkshakes too.” She starts walking back towards the start of the track and shoves her hands into her pockets to hide her own fidgeting. “Whenever you need to move around, just say so okay? No more of this hiding till you can’t take it anymore or someone is going to have a heart attack.” She smiles, and god, how the hell does Batman keep all the secrets he has?
“Really? Awesome!” He replies, following after Steph. He felt a lot better than he had before they went running, he felt okay for the first time in weeks. “Okay?” It’s an odd thing to request and he doesn’t understand why she requested it but he agrees anyway. At least moving around did make him feel better. “I promise I’ll tell you.”
"Ollie. Ollie. Ollieollieollie, hey. How are you?" -nightflcsh
The male sighs quietly, setting his book down. “What, Mary Iris?”
“Then who’s fault is it??”
“I don’t know? The bad guys’?”
“Everyone keeps blaming me for all this shit but I didn’t ask for my dad to be The Flash!”
“I am almost… 86% sure that was not my fault.”
“Well, I know it’s not my fault.”
@abandonedbird
“You almost got my sister killed.”
“That isn’t on me, it wasn’t my idea.”
“I’m telling flom about this.” ~abandonedbird
“Whaaat, why? I didn’t even do anything bad.”
ღ Sibling sentence starters ღ
“Careful! You might get hurt!”
“What are brothers/sisters for?”
“You’re probably the worst out of the two of us.”
“Hey, I’m the older one, I call the shots.”
“Don’t worry, I’m here for you sister/brother.”
“I love how they call us twins even though we look nothing alike!”
“You’ll get in trouble, but I’ll be the one punished for it!”
“I’m the better looking one. Just saying.”
“We make a good team.”
“There’s no me without you, you know that right?”
“Mom is going to be pissed when she finds out about this.”
“I’m telling dad about this.”
“Remember the stories mom used to tell us?”
“Please brother/sister, don’t be so stupid.”
“No matter what, you’ll always be my brother/sister.”
“Remember when we were kids?”

Of the grandparents he had, he’d only ever met Paula and Iris. He was sure there was a reason for it, since they weren’t dead, and his parents never talked about them. He knew now why he never met his mom’s dad.
It was hard to think, to remember how he got here. Patrol- mom wasn’t feeling too great after the last one, still hadn’t fully recovered from her head injury, so he went out by himself while she slept. Dad was with the League. He was all by himself, but that was okay because he was totally old enough to patrol on his own. He’d gotten halfway through it before something went wrong.
A heavy weight snapped out of the shadows and hit him in the shoulder, dislocating it and sending him flying. He screamed, cut the sound off, and rolled to his feet. Shit, shit, shit. Where’d they go?
When a weight hit the back of his head, he knew he was completely screwed.

Sportsmaster knew how to keep the kid alive long enough to carry out his mission. Lawrence Crock didn’t lose, especially not to his own daughter. She thought she won, that she made a life free of him. She had to be reminded that she’d never be free of him.
He pinned the half-dead boy beneath his foot, holding the phone he’d scrounged off him before calling his daughter, leaving their location and the demand she came out or else before hanging up.
He listened to the wet sounds of the boy’s breathing, betraying a crushed chest and punctured, collapsing lungs. The dislocated shoulder was the first of his injuries but in no way the worst, bones broken all over. He knew the cracked skull must be the worst, leading to bleeding in the brain and swelling and if she didn’t hurry he’d fade before he could finish him off.
But he shouldn’t have doubted her desire to protect. And the moment she arrived he smirked, and crushed the teens throat with his heel, the weak breaths becoming whistles before they stopped all together.
And then he turned, heading to the chopper that would get him out and away.
He was done, here.
She never should have let him go out alone.
Artemis hold her son’s broken body, sobs wracking her entire frame. Oliver was dead and his own grandfather had killed him.
The woman had never felt so much pain in her entire life. Oliver had been through so much, dealing with his powers, almost dying multiple times because of them, only to have someone as sick as Sportsmaster to give him a cruel painful death.
After what feels like hours, she’s pushing herself up off of the ground, cradling her son in her arms. She’d called Red Hood an hour ago, she needed a favor. Jason was her best friend so she had to hope he would keep the promise to do anything for her.
When he steps out of the shadows, she’s glad she can’t see his face, doesn’t want to see his reaction to how she herself looks. She carries the broken body in her arms over to him, pushing the boy into Jason’s hold.
“Take my son, bring him back. I don’t care how, just do it.” She leans down, kissing Oliver’s forehead before turning and walking down the alleyway.
“And just where do you think you’re going?” Jason calls out gruffly, though the woman doesn’t stop walking.
“I’m out for blood.”

She could hear him talking, but the words he was saying just weren’t piecing together, they didn’t make sense. She knew it was Oliver though, she could sort of make out the green of his suit and the red hair sticking out from under his hood. He was okay. Her son was okay and that was all that mattered.
Her head hurts so badly it feels like it’s going to explode and her body aches, who knows what’s broken. She should just close her eyes… just for a little bit…
He tapped on her cheek when he saw her eyes starting to shut, panic gripping his chest and squeezing the air from his lungs. “Mom, no, nonono, open your eyes, Mom, look at me.” He pleaded, tempted for a moment to remove the mask from her face.
She couldn’t die. She couldn’t, she couldn’t, this is all his fault, the blow was meant for him and now his mom was dying. “Please don’t die-”
@notgreenarrowsniece
She hadn’t even hesitated to take the hit for Oliver, running at their attacker and shoving her son out of the way just as the villain had swung out, super strength sending her flying backward and into a wall. She’d hit her head hard, really hard. She must have blacked out too because the next thing she knows, Oliver is talking to her and he sort of sounds really far away at first, but he’s getting clearer.
The woman opens her mouth to reply but the only thing that comes out in a pained groan and she forces her eyes open, light only making the already unbearable pounding in her head worsen.
Ollie knew he dropped the ball on this one, because the moment she went flying his attention left the bad guy. How could he focus on capturing him when his mom could be dying? So he screamed her name and took off running across the roof, skidding on his knees the last few feet to her side. The villain got away, his mom wasn’t responding- this had to be the worst patrol of his career.
He shook her lightly, only finding slight relief when she opened her eyes. She was in pain, she wasn’t answering him. Fuck. Fuck. He carefully pulled her head onto his lap, tears slipping down his cheeks as he called in for help. “S-stay with me, okay?”
She knows he’s weak, he has to be. He just died twice, though she doubts he knows that, and she doesn’t plan on telling him either. That was scarring material. The situation was already bad enough. She gently scoots him over, getting up onto the bed beside him, making sure to avoid getting tangled in anything. She gently lay’s Oliver’s head on her chest, wrapping an arm around him before calling out to J’onn in her head, knowing he was probably listening. ‘Oliver’s awake and I think he’s in pain. Think you can send something?’
All the strength had left him, leaving him limp and droopy as she shifted him about on the cot. He offered no resistance or protest, just a small, sleepy sound as he settled against her. He was a teen, he was a hero, and he could admit to needing his mommy right then. From outside the room his condition was being discussed between the doctors and J’onn, who paused at Artemis’ question. They already had him on a lot of painkillers, they couldn’t risk more. So he reached out to soothe Oliver’s mind, and subsequently his body. And he conveyed that to the blonde.
Artemis sighs softly. She should have known he’d be stubborn about just doing what he’s told. He got that from her. The blonde moves to sit on the edge of the side of his bed, still running a hand through his hair. “You vibrated through a door, by accident I assume, and you got a lot of stuff in your bloodstream. You text me and I ran to the house as fast as I could and called for medical assistance from The Watchtower. That’s where we are now.” She says softly. “Are you in any pain or anything?”
The moment she was on the bed he was leaning over, resting his head on her shoulder as he let his eyes fall shut. The only reason he was even conscious was because of his stubbornness, sitting up took more out of him than he had to give. He nodded a little at the explanation, memories trickling back. That had to be the worst... however long it was, of his life. But... it was over. He was okay. He sighed a little. The pain he was feeling was minor, but growing more uncomfortable. So he shrugged.
