Yes, people out there do say this. Some of these people are antis but some are not, and yes these are the same people that think TO is an amazing show. Also, not only s5 of TO but klaroline in gerenal is fan service in their eyes.
Huh. I did not know this. I'm not the biggest fan personally of TO but that is neither here nor there.
In general, I do not think Klaroline is a fan serviced ship. I think it grew organically in the beginning with the moment Klaus first met Caroline. She intrigued him because she did not beg for her life, even though she did not want to die. She showed him no fear.
There is a push and pull to their relationship that I think if TO had not happened, they would have ended up together on TVD...but it would have taken a long time. I think later on, things like 5x11 or S5 of TO could be argued as fan service because us Klaroline fans are so loud and want more.
But I think Klaroline is like any other "cannon" ship in any other fandom, it grew because two characters were on a show and the fan's sparked an interest.
