There was always going to be a black market for magical items, he knew that. It was inevitable. But that didn’t mean it wasn’t always a pain trying to track something down whenever they got word that a particularly dangerous item happened to be on the market. Weeks of infiltrating the necessary circles, pretending to be just an interested buyer, and subterfuge just to find the item left him just a tad bit disgruntled as he stared down at the ring that floated gently in his palm. A ring said to ward off death, but all it really did was reanimate already dead corpses. Too dangerous to allow on the streets or in the hands of whatever highest bidder managed to get their hands on it. He’d have to careful transporting it, he thought as he slowly pushed off the wall of the alley he’d briefly stopped in to examine the thing.
The way it floated mid-air above his palm, along with the eerie light that seemed to emanate from within, it’d be obvious to even the most oblivious human that the ring wasn’t normal-- And it was in that moment that mismatched eyes found themselves drawn to the mouth of the alley where a figure stood. A young woman. A young woman who most certainly saw the floating glowing ring in his hand. Oh, he was a right idiot. Still stunned, Luiz’s hand quickly closed over the golden object to hide it from view but it wasn’t long before he sent her an easygoing smile. “Stage prop,” was all he said in way of an explanation. Oh he was a right idiot.
