Edward Nygma squinted as camera lenses flashed in his face. His head was spinning, the many body's in the courtroom radiating heat towards him. The strong smell of perfume from his lawyer made his stomach churn, hot bile creeping up his throat. His wrists grew red and raw from the cuffs around them, his involuntary shaking making the pain only worse. He looked over at the jury, people's judging eyes piercing into him. It hurt. He knew this case would be lost by his lawyer and him but, he had hope. The juries dirty looks were because of his charges. Edward Nygma was being charged for the murders and sexual assaults of three teenage girls, but he was innocent. He choked back his tears, keeping a straight face as he looked up to the judge. He smiled at him, closing his eyes to hang his head.
Selina threw open the doors of the courtroom. She stared down the judge as she strode down the middle aisle. Her heels clicked authoritatively. She knew this case. She knew this judge. She knew that this woman was corrupt and if she was allowed to prosecute then Edward would be sentenced to jail and more young girls would be assaulted and killed. And no one hurt girls in her city. She would ensure that the real monster behind these crimes would be caught and thrown behind bars.
She’d already spoken to Bats.
“Pardon me your Honor, but my lawyers and I will be handling Mr. Nygma’s case from here on out.” Two men came to stand behind her and Edward. She didn’t look at Edward. Not yet. Not until the judge gave her the okay to sit.
Green hues caught the gaze of the man beside her.
“The only place you are going today is home.”
