Aries enjoys the soft, quiet moments and sharing meaningful moments. Doing something that they both enjoy and can bond over. Or doing an activity that her loved one likes, even if it is not one that she likes herself. Within reason. If it makes them happy and means that she gets to learn more about her loved one in the process and gaining a closer connection with them, it’s worth it. Maybe it will even help Aries learn something about herself.

In a thin pink cloud, Aries materialized where Miss Lucy had summoned her, “How may I help you, Miss Lucy?” Then she heard what Miss Lucy had said and saw the box that she was holding.

Being summoned was always a plethora of surprises, never knew what was going to happen. May be the middle of a raging battle or calmer, quieter moment. The latter was rare outside of contract forming with most of Aries’ previous key holders. Especially when she and the other spirits were seen more and more like objects rather than living beings as time went on since the creation of their keys.

But Miss Lucy was different. She saw and treated the spirits as people. She even remembered Aries’ birthday and got her a gift! As hard as she thought, Aries could not recall the last time a key holder did such a thing. Oh Aries must be sure to return the gesture when it is time for Miss Lucy’s birthday.

“You know my birthday, and you got me a gift?”

The gift box was so pretty, Aries was secretly happy that it was not wrapping paper that she would ruin by tearing into it. She lifted off the matching lid and soft gasped as she saw the box’s contents. The light coming off the lacrima glowed on the inner walls of the box. With a gentle hand, Aries gingerly pulled out the lacrima heart to get a better view of it. How beautiful. This was a precious gift that Aries would treasure always and remember was from her beloved key holder and friend, Lucy Heartfilia.

“Thank you so much Miss Lucy! It’s beautiful. I’ll treasure it always.”

Now she wondered if it had a specific function, Aries wanted to be sure to use this gift properly and give it a proper place to display it in her home.

Such eagerness. Aries smiled softly and remanence how that seemed in line with his character from back when the Spirits hosted a welcome back party for Lucy and her guildmates. He was so happy about the food of the spirit world... Until she and Cancer had told him that he had been eating lamb and crab, causing Natsu to loose his appetite.

“Yes, Mr. Natsu, th-there will be cake.” Aries smiled, but went in to reassure, “It won’t be much different than one you’re used to, other than th-the ingredients are from the spirit world rather than the human world.”

A cheeky smile replaced her soft one. “It’s a rather good cake, even if I say so myself as I’m the one that baked it.” A simple vanilla sponge cake, with strawberries, and whipped cream icing. Simple, but a classic.

“Is that so,” Aries questioned as she began setting out the fruits and vegetables to start preparing the little birthday dinner. She giggled knowing how Shade was not the biggest fan of vegetables and was trying to subtly suggest a meal plan. Of course, just because it was her birthday did not mean that she was going to force Shade to eat foods that he did not like.

What to do? What to do? Even though Aries could prepare this meal any day, she was quite looking forward to eating it today and already procured all the necessary ingredients. It would be a shame to let them go to waste.

“How about this,” she finished chopping the carrot that she had started moments before, “you order a small pizza that you would think that would complement the meal? But, you have to at least try what I’m making.” She was determined to better integrate vegetables into his diet. That seemed like a fair compromise, some extra food if he ended up not liking the dish, but not enough to completely overtake her previous plans.

“Does that sound okay to you, Shade?”

“We can also have pizza on your birthday”

"Everyone's carrying something that matters. You just don't realize when you're carrying it. It's only after it slips out of your hand that you realize how heavy it was in the first place. So many times I thought that I'd never carry a load like that ever again. And yet, before I realized it, I was carrying it again. I'd feel so much better if I just got rid of it. But I just can't bring myself to do it."

Aries rose her hand to her chin as she pondered over what the young reindeer  told her. Very true indeed. Her own life experience found much evidence for it, so she felt that it was natural for him be be feeling the way that he does. She carefully knelt down and placed a gentle hand on the top of his hat.

“Feelings are like that. You can f-forget about them f-for a while, then they just sneak up on you out of no where.” In between thoughts, Aries retracted her hand. “Or rather... You can’t let go of those feelings because there’s a s-strong attachment that pulls them back to you. S-so perhaps you need to f-find out what the attachment is first before you can get rid of them.”

“I’m sorry if th-that was confusing. B-but did it help any, Little One?”

Well, there was a compliment that she does not hear very often. It was nice.

“Oh, why th-thank you.”

“You have a nice smile as w-well.” However she did not know him well enough to extend the compliment further. “I hope to see it more often.”

It was not easy for Aries to get drunk off of alcohol from the human world, but here she was. Slightly buzzed and she had the widespread blush to prove it.

Aries let out a giggle.”Shaaaade,” she sang out before letting out an other giggle. “H-have... Have I ever told you how sweet and handsome that I th-think you are?”
