"This new year, I plan on making sure everyone gives up on me, because some fuckers didn't get the memo last year."
"In my mind's eye, I can see Cybertron. It is brilliant and radiant and golden, as I want to remember it. I reach for my home, but it is out of grasp. Each time I reach, it drifts further and further out of grasp. Then it withers, transforming into the husk we have left it as, and I am painfully reminded that our war has killed our home."
"I'm injured, not frail. The last thing I need is for someone to take care of me or nurse me back to health when I know how to take care of myself." He says, despite visibly straining.
Three hours ago, Jason Todd tried to kill Roman Sionis. He had some kind of suped-up bodyguard this time. Jason was stupid and careless, barely managing to get out of there with his life. He had to ditch the cape and cowl in an alley somewhere along the way, letting them burn in a trash fire; he can just replace them the next night.
By the time he gets to his safe house, his hands are shaking from the bleeding. He stumbles into the doorway and shuts it behind him, leaving a crimson stain on the handle.
All the while, he can hear the voice of a terrified fifteen-year-old in the back of his head, saying I don't want to die over and over again.
He doesn't even remember blacking out.
When he comes to, he's waking up in a bed he doesn't remember falling into, covered in bandages he doesn't remember being there. His finger traces across the old glasgow grin on his face, and the 'J' crudely burned into his cheek while his eyes dart across the room.
He's not alone.
"Listen up, the greatest Robin is speaking."
Logan takes a bottle and starts chugging it. He only stops when he notices someone is looking at him.
"It's been a long year."
"It's finally here!" Wildly, with a finger that shakes in excitement, Maps points to the month on her phone's calendar. "The best month of the entire year, every year!"
