“…” Jade let out a forced cough. What exactly was happening?
They’d been very well received in this new city. Although they hadn’t been there before, it seemed quite a few of the inhabitants already knew of them in particular, which was a surprising change considering most only know of travelling mages in general. A lot, of course, didn’t know them at all and a few even had trouble trusting them at first. Regardless of that, the young witch continued with their duties, remaining understanding of some of the people’s distrust.
They were lucky enough that the leader of that small city offered to provide them with a place to stay. It was a small house outside of the town square. The calmer area put Jade at ease, as it was the perfect place for them to work on some requests in peace.
That particular morning, however, the poor mage didn’t seem to be as lucky. They got up as usual, getting dressed and working on a more complex request a young man had given them the day before. With a small notebook open on their left, Jade meticulously mixed a few liquids, taking some dry petals from their pocket as well. Everything came to a halt once they realized they weren’t alone.
“…Excuse me.” They let out yet another forced cough, this time followed by a growly voice. Indeed, they weren’t alone. It seemed someone had somehow gotten inside. They couldn’t turn around to see, but one thing they were certain of: this person was very fond of breathing down other people’s necks.
