Hey look they darkened Sera's skin. NOW can we cease the dumb Viv hates pocs thing? It's clear she doesn't if she's willing to darken Sera's skin to fit Patina Miller. Or does it not count because she doesn't have a round nose or curly hair?

I have never seen a person in the critical community say that. Whether Viv hates POCs or not, we don’t know but it still doesn’t excuse her problematic treatment of her POCs characters, that other POCs like myself and others have called out and criticized her for.

I will only going over Viv’s problematic designs for her POCs characters because other people have made multiple posts about the other problems with Viv’s writing of them. Viv darkening Sera is below the bare minimum for a good POC design. She had a gray skin tone which made it impossible to tell she was supposed to be a POC. Heck even with them darkening her skin is problematic because it’s colorist, Sera and other dark skinned/dark gray POC characters are villains while the good POC characters have a lighter skin tone/light gray tone.

Why is so common for Viv to design black and brown character with gray skin with no POC features? It’s an issue because people can’t tell they’re supposed to be POC and it’s bad rep because of it. Don’t believe me? Here are links to three different twitter posts, two are from black people. The posts are about the original posters being shocked, the characters above were POC and the comments are filled of other POCs and people in general being shocked and upset they were supposed to be POCs.

It’s upsetting because not only are we getting these terrible POCs designs where the characters don’t look like any actual POCs but Viv knows how to draw these skin tones and hair textures.

Look at this wolf character with an Afro or the music video above Viv animated. The music video follows a black girl who is the singer and throughout the video we see a variety characters with a range of different skin tones and hair textures. So she can draw POCs features but doesn’t want to try and even if she couldn’t, that isn’t an excuse.

Viv’s attempt at making Sera look more of a POC doesn’t count because she should have alway look like a POC from the start and it doesn’t erased the harm Viv caused by writing POC as awful stereotypes and spreading misinformation about closed marginalized religions because she refuses to do her research.

Why Lucifer being a good person is fucking stupid:

So in the show canon Lucifer and Lilith were kicked out because they were dreamers and gave Eve the fruit of knowledge. Based off the lore of Helluva Boss Lucifer 99% is the sin of Pride. In the show Lucifer is just a quirky theatre major who just wants to reconnect with his daughter...

Ok so lets analyze why this does not make sense in the worldbuilding. Lucifer is the King of Hell, a.k.a. a place full of homicidal maniacs and various other people. And since angelic weapons can harm angels (which is stupid btw) and sinners have been stealing weapons left behind by angels... Lucifer logistically cannot be a good person because these people could just decide to try to murder him if he was too weak. He needs the sinners and populace to fear him or respect him. Since Helluva takes place in the same setting Lucifer must have put in the social hierarchy of hell, approved it or doesn't do anything about it. Which means he plays some part in Stolas and Stella being forced to wed and the imps plus hellhounds being treated like garbage.

Then we get into story construction problems. Like if Charlie and Lucifer have a good relationship instantly then almost all the problems in the show can be solved at a snap of a finger because of Lucifer's power level. Its a similar problem with Alastor but worse because Lucifer is stronger. Like Alastor tho is implied to be weakened and forced to do this so there is intrigue storywise and limits on his personality and power. Lucifer is angel and can just like idk zap the Vees. Theres no threat, risk or anything now.

Also this Lucifer may have slept with Eve which either implies he cheated on Lilith or Adam was cheated on twice and Lucifer also agreed with genocide

And what wouldve been better is Lucifer being a shitty dad or person WHICH WE HAD IN THE PILOT. Like Lucifer being awful is actually better for the previous reasons and Charlie's own character. Like Charlie is supposed to be an underdog despite being princess and has an impossible task and if her father doesnt believe in her theres another personal level to then and maybe some of the audience could connect with her. And if Charlie's dad hates her or something you could easily write in and make Charlie struggle more by having him cut off her resources. Heck if her dad is awful then you can write in how Charlie feels about being so morally different. Then slowly build up to when we see Lucifer for the first time and actually have it feel special

This just makes me missed the pilot even more. While it did have it's own problems with the worldbuilding and characters, a majority of its ideas were still believable.

A better angle for Lucifer would be if he was a morally grey character. He can still be a decent father but a terrible ruler. Of course, that angle wouldn't work because everything in this show has to be black and white, where it literally tells you in a song, "Cause the rules are black and white" despite the same show critiquing its Heaven for the same black and white thinking.

I'm not against the idea of Lucifer being a decent father because there are still other ways the show can create conflict between him and Charlie. For example, he does get her the meeting into Heaven but it's at a cost. If she's unable to convinced Heaven, she has to abandon the hotel. Or maybe he is skeptical of Charlie's idea so he makes her overcome the hotel's problems, like the Vees, alone, to prove how strong and passionate she is. Of course, if they hurt Charlie, he can easily kill them, but it can serve as a great character moment for the both of them. Charlie learning Hell is brutal, Lucifer now hating the hotel because it will hurt Charlie, and create a new conflict where Charlie and Lucifer are against each other. Or the fact Lucifer was the one who allowed the exterminations to happened and Charlie has to undo her father's actions.

I'm only focusing on Lucifer being a "good" person through parenting because almost everything else, he's a bad guy. Not only was this the same man who allowed the yearly genocide of the sinners but also he created the classist, racist social hierarchy and system in Hell, and let the pride ring become so awful, the overlords, a group of powerful sinners, are taking advantage of regular sinners daily.

This is just me, but I was never bothered by Vaggie's name. Mainly because I never saw it as a reference to the female genitalia, but as a reference to the word "vagabond," meaning a person who wanders from place to place without a home or job.

I do understand why people are bothered by her name though.

Now this would have make Vicky’s name awesome if it was supposed to reference to that but it isn’t unfortunately.

I’m decided I’m going to call her Vicky now because I’m done with Viv’s childish humor.

It bothers me that it has been really explained how or what determines a sinner's appearance when they enter Hell. I've heard it's based on how one dies or their personality, but it doesn't explain much.

Viv's Hell really is a land of confusion. 😵

Viv’s hell is the worst Hell I’ve ever seen, it’s just Earth spray-painted red with interesting worldbuilding concepts never touched upon again.

The whole sinners’ appearance is based on their life/death is such BS. Not only does Viv go back on her worldbuilding but also her sinners’ designs are filled with historical inaccuracy, useless details, and vague references of their possible human life, it’s impossible to tell.

Look at this man! Does he look like a Creole 1930 radio host with a deer theme? You can barely even see his antlers.

Or Niffty?

What about this design is supposed to tell the audience she’s supposed to be a Japanese woman from the 1950s who loves to clean?

This has alway annoyed me because this implies sinners who aren’t like Vaggie, not suffering with mental health etc would be more monster-like in appearance. (Which I doubt since you can make an argument all sinner’s self troubles are mental health related/stemmed and do reflect the real world because there’s someone with the exact struggles as them) Characters like Alastor, Katie Killjoy, Niffty, and Velvette all look very humanoid despite the fact they don’t look like they’re struggling with anything and in fact are enjoying because the worst people in Hell.

Demonolatry they are the people who worshipping demon and work with demon. Like the demon of ars goetia, seven deadly sin etc

They always told when invoking and working with demon it's need to be treated with respect. Working with these entity require an effort, time, patience and doing shadow work. Even some practioner reveal the demon don't have the same concept as human so they don't have gender, they present any form they want. The demon gremory, marchosias they identified with her/she prounouns and in other cases the demon is genderfluid or non binary

Vivziepop treated these thing as a joke like using random sigil without proper research or even considering it can be disrespectful toward these entity or the practioners

Again I found it funny how Viv prides herself for having queer rep in her shows when in actual demonology, there are many demons who are non-binary and gender-fluid but her Hell still has a binary gender system for some reason. One of the many things about the Hellverse worldbuilding that will alway confused me is Hell having a binary gender system and the hell species having sexual dimorphism because it. The idea of gender came from humans so by default Hell and Heaven shouldn’t followed these rules but let say God did create gender, it still doesn’t make sense for Hell to have a binary system. Hell is supposed to be the opposite of Heaven so if Heaven is enforcing the binary then Hell wouldn’t. Sorry I didn’t say everything on Viv’s lack of respect for religions. You explained it perfectly in your ask and I won’t be adding much to the conversation from the last time I discussed it.

I saw another blog bring this up but I think this is important to state.

Vivziepop is actively fucking endangering people by using demonic sigils.

Case in point: a while ago someone on the Helluva subreddit wanted to get Stolas' Sigil as an actual tattoo and only like a 1/3 of the comments were like "HOLY FUCK DO NOT FUCKING DO THIS FOR RELIGIOUS AND SAFETY REASONS"

Like I don't care if you don't believe in the supernatural or whatever. You don't FUCK with this shit. Like even if you ignore the potential issues there's the fact Stolas is a patron for neo pagans.

Like I can understand why Vivziepop uses the sigils in the show somewhat but she should NEVER sell merch with that shit.

Like one shes comidifying religious shit on a show that only us 0.1% related to the Ars Goetia and demonology. This effects people who deal with the supernatural and will make their practices be seen from the outside a some sort of quirky fandom thing and not taken seriously.

She is potentially having people open up entry points for demons.

She is not a practicing neo pagan or worshipper of any patron demons and is stealing from them without any fucking respect. She has no right to profit using their iconography. Like it would be like me using the Star of David to market my show about Jesus.

As someone who heard rumors about how the Lore Olympus fandom attacking actual Hellenists for worshiping Apollo because LO Apollo is a horrible person. What the FUCK do you think Vivziepop's cult would do if they found out someone worships Paimon or pagan worshippers in general having issues with how the Ars Goetia is portrayed?

Not surprising to me that Viv is treating actual demonic sigils as an aesthetic. She has done this before with Alastor’s Hatitan voodoo in the pilot.

Another problem I have with Viv not doing research about demonology and religions is she obviously doesn’t care about respecting these religions and spreading harmful misconceptions about them to her fans who knows nothing about them. Fans think voodoo symbols and demon sigils are just designs because of how Viv treats them in her show and merch.

There is an actual reason why these religions don’t let anyone use these symbols. I don’t care if Viv is an atheist, you still have to respect other’s religions and their rules. From what I heard people who are into demonology and these religions hate the show because of how inaccurate it is. The fans would just ignore or harass them because they dare criticize a show misusing their religion.

hazbin hotel would been better if they were comic then animation

For a while I thought HB would be better as a comic, but then I remembered how offtracked Zoophobia got and how the writing for the two official Hazbin comics weren’t exactly good. Viv is the main issue, kick her off and get a better person on.
