“--Well. We have a lot more in common than I assumed. Dancing, seems to be one of the many. My sister taught me how to dance. She insisted.”

“You don’t need any sort of calibrating -- ? ” He only asks out of underlying concern. Idle question, really. Here he couldn’t afford to have the few he placed his trust in uncomfortable or neglected. Blackwatch didn’t exactly feel like family to him yet. Could it ever -- ? It had been so different. And he hadn’t exactly been brought in under pleasant circumstance.
Friendship went a long way. Even if said friendship felt a little intense.
“You can always ask if you do.”

Routine quarters check. He didn’t mind it. He knew cleanlinesshad to be a rule here, and either way, he liked the feeling of a cleanroom. He might have changed things up a bit since the last time, atlast minute. It would explain the stray photo when the Commander setfoot into the room. Salem hadn’t noticed, until it was pointed out. And it’sone of his favorites. A group photo. So many, but he stood between twoat it’s front: Jackal and Kangal. He’s a teenager in this one. He’s still got hislimbs, he’s no cyborg. He seems normal, despite the playfully wicked grinhe’s giving. A bit lanky, wily curled hair that’s gelled back with leather jacketslung over shoulder. If they hadn’t been a gang, they might’ve all seemed likefamily. The picture isn’t too dirty. It’s a polaroid, too.Salem looks up and away from the small book in his hands. Surprised by hisown lack of attention towards the picture. He’s quick to jog over, lean justa bit, and laughs immediately. “Yeah. That’s me. Ah, that day we were all goingto plan a raid, to be honest with you. But somebody happened to have a camera. So, of course, we all just posed.” And like that, he’s a bit homesick. His laughterdips and he tilts his head, smile crooked. “Can’t lie and say I don’t miss them. ButI feel like i’ll live longer here. Just wished my sister could see reason to follow mehere. She’d fit right in. It’s.. lonely, in a family sense.”
Yanks him down by the collar for a kiss.

Caught in the middle of talking. Breath stuck in thethroat, the remnants of a soft gasp upon his lips. Hedoesn’t have to bend far to reciprocate. That, he is thankfulfor. He’ll just lean.

“What do you mean look in my eyes -- ? I haven’t said a thing and you’re already trying to read me like a book -- !” But he’s laughing. Had he been making a face -- ? Letting on how pensive he had become -- ? He really needed to work on that, then -- !

Don’t come back for me. Don’t come back for me.
That’s all he could remember screaming over the gunfire. He’d be Blackwatch’s escape. He could be the diversion. They’dkill me, he thought. They wouldn’t let me live. God was he wrong. They had let him live. But had this been living – ? The interrogationwas pure hell. Incessant questions. When he refused to answer, itwould have been a shock to the body and a stab to the thigh. Or apunch to the face- and a kick to the stomach. He’d been through things. But this – ? No. He’s been kept in some damn glass box as if he weresome animal. Stared at, sneered at. Hated. They’d brought up Toxic Dogs. They brought up everything.
