          It isn’t the first time that she’s woken up A L O N E, nor does she suppose it’ll be the last. Each time had begun the same way, with Eliza reaching across the bed for her husband & grasping only the cooling pillow in return. She became greedy for his presence when he was around. The stretches of time during which his job drew him away only served to remind her how familiar she had grown to having him near. A shawl draped around her shoulders, her footsteps were silent as she padded through the darkness towards his office. When she finally spies his form illuminated in the candlelight, there was a small pause before she softly spoke.

          “ You should be asleep. The sun hasn’t even risen yet. ”
