she found herself dragging through the day as lifelessly as she felt. if she could just make it until five o'clock she could go home and crawl into bed and forget this whole horrible week even existed. that was all nancy really wanted. usually she had some kind of comeback to the rude and often stupid comments the men made towards her during delivery of lunch or coffee. today she didn't even acknowledge them. it was almost as though she didn't even hear them. if anyone were to ask her half of what they’d said nancy wouldn’t even know.
she was a little surprised when tom called to her from his office. his words did receive a look of surprise. maybe he was deciding to be nice with the holiday season approaching. 'yeah right.' she muttered to herself in response to her own thoughts before stopping in the doorway. "i'm fine. thanks for asking." this was almost as awkward as a conversation with her dad. at least with her father she could anticipate him falling asleep in the la z boy before it was over. did she tell him what was really up or just walk away? under normal circumstances tom holloway listening to relationship issue - or lack of them - would be hilarious. just not today.
