… ♡ & — ❝ hey, stranger, ❞ phoenix had been watching the other for a while now. not just in the exact place that they were but over time. she’d become rather accustomed to chunji asking her out once a lifetime and she had turned 24 just last week, however, he hadn’t asked yet. due to the nature of other immortals being so few and far apart, it was never exactly too hard to find him and she sort of missed having someone to mess around with. after all, he’d been asking her out for the past 300 years, at least, and she’d turned him down with a hard no almost every time. even the times that she did say yes, she’d run away before it could be anything serious. in this life, though, she was bored almost all of the time. immortality came with its perks but it also came with drawbacks and one of them was the fact that after a while, you’d run out of things to do. when that had happened, she figured the easiest thing to do would be to hunt down the one who was always hunting her. after all, he couldn’t possibly have lost his obsession with her in the last quarter-century since he’d seen her. she was addicting and that was a fact that she counted on. it wasn’t that hard to find him this time. word on the eternal street was that he was close and not only was he close but they were more similar this time that they’d been before. hair-wise, that is. after so many times being reborn, of course, there were differences here and there. one of the key ones was the fact that she had been born with a shock of white-hair at the front of her forehead that reminded her sorely of him. this was probably one of the reasons that she had immediately thought of him when she decided she needed a little entertainment and there she’d found him. he made it so easy. it was almost laughable. ❝ you’re lucky people aren’t hunting, anymore. you’d die first. you were so easy to find. it was here or the gym, but i figured i’d check here first. ❞ she smirked shrugging as she sat down on the barstool next to him. ❝ just in case you got over me and started picking up some hot normies, ❞

… ⚜ & — pho had grown tired of her father’s urging her to find a suitable husband and this was, in her opinion, just his latest attempt at begging her to show some interest in a man who was, in his opinion, on her level. she couldn’t take it. she’d reached the point where the sight of a man pretty much made her nauseous and after all that had happened with her dating life in high school, she didn’t even want one near her and definitely not close enough to marry. she didn’t want to be in a situation where there was a man who wanted anything from her and she surely did not want anything from a man. despite that, she stood in front of the ornate mirror in the dressing room of her parent’s estate as her mother primped and preened over her hair. a waft of steam from the curling iron grace her skin and she winced. “Ma! Stop it. Even if I look ugly, which let’s be honest, I never do, it’s not like he has a choice, right? If Appa has got his dad as locked into this as he say then he’s just like me. Marriage or...I don’t know, poverty,” pho would’ve been okay with being poor. As a matter of a fact, she might’ve even preferred to be a penniless nobody and if it wasn’t for the orphanage that she up-kept, the addiction clinic she secretly funded and the smuggling she so passionately ran under the streets of seoul, she would’ve decided to say ‘Fuck This’ and do what she wanted, anyway. the problem was, though, that she couldn’t do that. it wasn’t just her life that was at stake. it was her employees and the kids and the addicts that would be out of a healthy detox and a place to get better. she groaned waving her mother away and standing as she smoothed her hands over her dress and walked to the foyer where her father ( and several servants ) had been waiting. she stood still sighing as she heard the car pull up. Fucking showtime. She thought as she watched her father walk out the door to greet what would soon be her father-in-law ( though, she was hoping her personality alone would be enough to ruin the deal ).

. . . ♡ & — phoenix and sang had been dating for almost a year now and although, they’d only made it official a few months ago, it felt like forever. while the fact that their relationship was open and they were both, at least, mostly poly-amorous was just the amount of freedom that she needed, it wasn’t what made her stay with him. instead, what was important to her was that he made her feel…..real. phoenix couldn’t count on her hands the number of times that people had made her feel invalidated. whether it was because of her beauty or her intelligence or even just her family, people always assumed that because she was one thing, she couldn’t be anyone else. beautiful? then you can’t be sad. smart? then you can’t make a mistake. strong? then you can never get hurt. it was all she heard all the time but when it came to sang, it was never like that. even their first phone call was floated on a life-raft of flirtation laid on the foundation of mostly brutal honesty. half of that came from the fact that sang knew that pho wasn’t anyone near as tough as she pretended to be and pho knew that sang wasn’t anywhere near as happy as he pretended to be. the nation’s little brother persona that he put on was fake and she wanted to draw it out of him as soon as he’d lobbed the third smile at her in a row.
that was part of the reason why she’d gotten the apartment. it was a bit of a splurge for her. even being a person who was so completely wrapped up in the middle of wealth, she’d never spent so much, at once but this place was absolutely perfect. it was right between both of their own places: his apartment and her house and even though, she’d wanted them to keep their own separate dwellings due to, not only the openness of their relationship but her need for space: she still wanted them to have something together. this was it. the perfect space and when she’d given him the keys on his birthday, that only confirmed it more for her. they had a room for themselves, a couple of rooms that mimicked the ones they’d had their best times in when they were in her old house and even better, a room for their dogs.
the only thing that they were missing was furniture and now, they were going to go pick that out together. she was overjoyed…more than that, she was gushing constantly every time she looked at the list of furniture shops that she had researched for them to go to. they needed pillows for the living room since the mattress she’d ordered for the custom floor had just come in. that was one of the most important things to her because they’d had so many good times rolling around in the bed of the den in her old home and this was something she knew she’d regret leaving when she first moved. she’d had them put a room like this into the new apartment just to make sure that they could keep this space to share together.
that wasn’t the only room in the house that needed some love but to her, that one was the most important to her. she brushed her hair out of her face as she peeked around the corner of the wall at the end of the hallway and made grabby hands towards her boyfriend. she always greeted him like this because, from him, words were never enough. she needed his touch, too. she made her way into the living room and leaned over the back of the chair pressing a kiss to the top of his head before whispering softly, ❝ lee sang, we need to start acting like an adult couple. are you ready to go furniture shopping? ❞
