@dhntaesung :: continued from here.
his question had been a simple one, and one that certainly hadn’t meritted the entire speech and resounding encore that he had received. the other is interesting in a way that sort of manages to simultaneously irritate and intrigue alex, and that fact alone is enough for his mind to be thrown into a reeling spiral of confusion when the other spouts off a long tale that he barely has enough leftover working memory space to accommodate comprehending. his mouth gapes ever so slightly the longer taesung drags on, and he briefly wonders if it’s a generational thing, because there’s no way he would ever ( or has ever ) done that much talking in the amount of time that the younger had. “well,” he pauses, having spoken too quickly to form an accurate sentence in an effort to subconsciously keep up with the established pace of the conversation, “thank you? i think--”
he blinks a few times, jamming his hands into the front pockets of his jeans in an effort to do anything. he can’t help the uncharacteristic startled bubble of laughter that slithers past his lips unannounced in response to the other’s laughter, and it stops just as quickly as it began. alex was never one to laugh, not even at things that he himself might have found funny ( though very rare, considering his sense of humour was rather dark and dry ). the fact that he had done so with an ease with which was unfamiliar was slightly unsettling, if freeing in a sense. he clears his throat just as his gaze darts away, a hard habit to break. “i’d certainly like to hear more about that story and the outcome of it, but my shoes were handmade. italian leather, and a gift from my father when i graduated medical school.” he smiles, though it doesn’t quite reach his eyes. “i could see about getting a pair for you as well since you like them so much.”
