Lore Share - Beginnings
How did your clan get its start? What brought them together? What started their story into motion?
The earliest bits of lore for Clan Maelstrom is this:
(Don’t ask how, don’t ask why. She can’t recall, nor does she want to.
But the lava flows and sulphur clouds of the Ashfall Wastes has always fascinated her and there she stayed until others began to join her.)
The unclaimed lands had been barren. Black rock, marked by heat haze and occasional patch of bright lichen. The lava finally cooled enough to support the hardiest forms of life.
For Aphelion, it was a place to stop, the respite she had been wandering for. Something about the flatness called her, a need to build, to leave some sign that she had been there.
And so she began.
Crack by crack, and furrow by furrow - the ground was broken - small roots, and study claws chipping industriously until rock became pebbles, and soil.
Borne of fire, Coriolis’ egg had only hatched after a passing inferno burned down the grove in which his egg had nested. The earliest memory he had was of plague rot and ash, charcoal stumps, stark against the grey sky, crumbling from fire damage. The faint smell of mold, encouraged by the last rain.
He was a mirror, hungry in his own way for a sense of home. An anchor that could draw him back over and over again.
And he had.
The dark piles of rock and dirt had been curious. The tundra digging them even more so. They didn’t warm up to each other for weeks, but he had lurked around the area, sleeping in the excavated caves at night, moving off and back with little bits of food (anything but lichen), and items that could be useful.
Or just pretty to look at.
Most of it went into the earth - and the land grew.
blindfold - y'think I don't remember, but I do.
How she got there was a miracle. Unable to move, bound by ropes and chains.
Sightless.
She could feel the fabric covering her eyes and that lead to to the hope that she still have her vision. Only that it was being blocked. However it sent her other senses into overdrive. She could almost feel the very air shift along her skin. Hear the too loud inhales of her own breath. Smell the tang of metal and leather.
And then the voice came from all around her. In panic she froze. The pit dropping into her stomach as the knowledge of what those words meant sank in. She had tried so hard to put it from her mind. To pretend that it never existed. That the week of hell which felt so much longer was nothing more than a nightmare.
She could taste the bitterness of the emotion in those words. The betrayal and anger.
“I am so sorry. I wish you didn’t. I am the only one who deserves to relive that day.” And with that she hangs her head feeling the burn of old scars break open once more. There was a nasty thing about Paradox. It always had a way of finding you and showing you just how small you really were in the world.
I can not eat milk and dairy products, dried fruit and gluten. My mother had made for dinner stuffed pizza with ham and mozzarella. I love it but... the night I was sick and I spent, I don't know how long, at the toilette with strong pangs of tummy and stomach pain.
When I said it my mother and my brother they said I was exaggerating...

[ri 🏞] had another one of those dreams last night. the one where i’m in the middle of a war and it all seems so...worth it? [message saved to drafts] [ri 🏞] this is insane, but i’m starting to believe it’s real. i’m starting to think i might actually be a founding father? [message saved to drafts] [ri 🏞] my god, i sound crazy. who in the fuck thinks they were a founding father? what kind of bullshit is that? [message saved to drafts] [ri 🏞] ....but i think i remember you, too. you were so young, then. young and full of fire and passion and i remember wanting to do it all for you. [message saved to drafts] [ri 🏞] you were so special to me. worth every second of the fight. i remember it. [message saved to drafts]
[ri 🏞] if you’re not busy tonight, you wanna get together? maybe grab some pizza and watch a movie or something? i’m not great at sitting through a whole flick, but i’ll try if you’re up for it.
