Obi update; his surgery has sadly failed - his leg isn't any stronger and is still flattening. This means he's gonna need surgery on both legs again to fuse his ankles into the correct position, but there's a 30% chance of complications from each surgery like infection or needing the plate removed.

Also because he's not walking right he's got rubs on both of his legs and one started bleeding today. We're keeping in top of it but it all just suuuuuucks.

Mild heart attack today.

Obi, due to muscle wastage on the leg with the cast on after four weeks, managed to accidentally kick it off while stretching this morning. Then, because he's had four weeks of not using that leg at all, started whining and whimpering in fear when he was putting it down.

We promptly panicked thinking he'd undone all of the work on his leg and/or hurt himself (he hadn't, he'd just scared himself and wasn't used to putting weight on it again) and rushed him to the specialist vets, where they reattached the cast and gave him new bandages, saying his leg looks great and we're on track to get it off next week.

Little shit.

One final thing Altair can do! He can go shopping!

This only really works because the cashiers are so familiar with him (and James) in Spikemuth’s various stores, and because Altair always takes whatever money he may need for whatever stock set of items he needs - usually something relating to food, most often curry.

Yes, he carries a little handbasket around if its a big shop!

Being able to teleport directly into most of the stores from James’ house makes it easier, too. Yes it absolutely scares the shit out of the cashiers a lot of the time. James prefers to go shopping himself as the trainer, but equally Altair sees no real reason to wait if he needs something quickly when he can get it himself.

James keeps a little jar stuffed with money for Altair on the kitchen counter for his impromptu shopping trips as a result, and Altair will just nudge him mentally to let him know he’s going to be out for a few minutes.
