I’M BECOMING A GROWNUP I THINK

I found this four-year-old picture from my sister’s wedding and I just stared at it for a while because I realized, like.....I looked nice.  But I didn’t like how I looked??  I looked nice but not in a way I liked, and I’m just way happier with how I look now, and it’s great.  

I used to wear a lot of crappy hoodies and super thick, baggy clothes, too--if I didn’t care how I looked, I wouldn’t have to try to look “nice”.  Since my concept of looking “nice” was “what my mom thinks looks nice”, I couldn’t stand the thought of putting in the effort, because I don’t like that look on me!  I just realized this!!

..............Anyway facebook made me have the revelation that growing up and being an adult is kind of tough but also you are then the Adult and YOU get to define what “looking nice” is on a daily basis instead of your previous life-authority-figure and that’s pretty swell.  Facebook has fulfilled its purpose and now it must perish, thank you for listening.
