It hadn't been a particularly serious conversation before Gale took a tumble, but him slipping right in the middle of extoling his own virtue rather did sap the last of the air out of his argument.

Especially since, as she sat on the edge of the ledge, looking down at him, she noted it was his pride injured more than his body. Bree smothered her traitorous grin behind her hand. "Is this part of it? Is this what Gale would do?" she asked, her voice high and wavering.

"Well, if you insist," With a great shrug, she swung herself off the ledge and landed right beside him, cackling as dust swirled around her. Bree rolled onto her belly and propped her chin on his chest, her wolfishness inescapable. "What's next, chief? What would Gale do from here?"
