@themageofmany liked for a thing!
It still ached, that shoulder. That wing seemed to ache all the time, but it was easier to ignore when it was under the surface. His shoulder became impossible to ignore at points, and the times when it ached didn’t even particularly make sense. Just getting old, I guess. He did not laugh.
Even if they hadn’t wound up in the circumstances they had, Skylar would be the only person he’d trust to touch him. His shoulder... his wing... Of course, giving in to allowing that was never particularly easy. Even then, he wanted to try and bear it, to ride out the pain and stretch himself...
And it was often Angeal’s voice in his head lecturing him about how futile that was. He still did not laugh.
“I wonder if I should try to cut it off...” He mused out loud. A perfectly idle thought he’d expressed before. One he wasn’t usually tempted by.
"it’s nothing. it’s just a bruise."
Miscellaneous Angst Starters | accepting, but forever slow
He had been close, for the shadow of a second, to reaching for Ravus’ arm himself, to making a physical demand--
But he’d stopped. Counted. Breathed. Pushed down anger that did not belong there, and allowed that space. “It’s hardly just a bruise.” Safay insisted. It was dark purple, yes, and still blooming; but there was red which could not be mistaken, and he would simple have to be patient for an explanation. For allowance to help.
He could wait in one place in a drop ship for hours while being transported to the furthest reaches, to spend barely a minute out of the ship itself and then return. But he could not settle into silence for a few minutes and let Ravus simply hurt. “If you’re expecting me to offer retaliation against whoever may be responsible... well, you’re correct to do so.” There was the barest attempt at humor, at least.
