A combination of disappointment and frustration made every step back to the gummi ship heavier. They'd responded as soon as they could after Leon had sent a message about Maleficent and Pete "making a mess" in Traverse Town, but that probably meant they'd already been there for some time before they'd been discovered--

Riku let out a deep sigh as the gummi ship was in sight, parked out of the way and far from any usual foot traffic. He'd confirmed it through asking several people and a few broken stones, bricks, and weirdly deep holes which had clearly been dug with a shovel and a great deal of effort left behind: no one was there to stop or question anymore. Maybe Sora had more luck with a lead, or anything else.

Mild annoyance making him feel tense and jittery, he leaned back against the side of the ship and waited for Sora. It didn't seem like an immediate disaster or anything, it was just... one more thing to have to worry about.

At last, here is the: like for a thing! --With a caveat: I have no idea how much time/energy I'll have for anything from now until the end of the year (upcoming charity fundraiser week, ill-advised travel, my standard too many projects that have my attention, and on top of the apparent need to participate in whatever this capitalism thing is), so patience will be... mandatory. And appreciated. The desire is strong, but the everything else is like LEGO pieces upon the floor.

We don't need to be mutuals, we don't need to have interacted before, and there's no particular cut-off period; just bop the heart for something. Drabble, starter, inbox thing; who knows what could happen. If there's a preference for (or against!) a specific mood, type of thing, or muse from a multi-muse, please do comment and let me know. I might ask for clarification through Tumblr's questionable messaging system first, if needed, or feel free to drop in and ask about whatever.

Vash makes a vaguely animal sound, like someone who's never actually heard a dog growl and tries to mimic it anyway. That, of course, gets some not-small amount of drool to drip over bare wires between his teeth and he--

Glows. Very, very brightly, going extremely rigid in the process while sparks fly and a slightly worrying sound of gathering power lingers in a low hum at the outside edge of both their senses. Finally all the lights go out completely around them, but Vash is... still...

He does finally drop the wires with a single smoky cough, but there are lines glowing all over his skin that might remind him of neon. The thing is, his eyes are also glowing, and that kind of has a flashlight effect on everything he's looking at.

So... it can't take that long to stop glowing. Right? Blinking flashlight eyes land on Wolfwood. "I'm, um. Charged?" He's making a assumption. A wild guess. An explanation that actually explains nothing. The usual.

Somehow I always get the trickle of new followers while I am neck-deep in Other Tasks Requiring All My Time and Energy. How does that even work. But, here:

Like this post for a thing. If any specifics are desired (verse/mood/a specific muse/character interaction/etc.), leave a comment. Or shriek incoherently in Tumblr messages. Risking randomness is always an option as well it'll be angst or humor or horror or some combination; I don't think any other genres exist here! The result will be drabble-ish, but those can always be replied to if desired, or discussed for something expanded.

The snort wasn't dismissive of the whole idea, but Riku's eyes did drift down to the wrist that felt like it'd been injured ages ago. Trying not to think about scars that magic hadn't gotten to in time. "I'm not sure what I understand, exactly. Not nearly enough, but I know what works for me." That almost felt and sounded just a little too simple.

Eyes on the enemy again, there wasn't as much immediate anger, but a wall of cold remained. "Guess we'll always disagree on what to do about the hurt, too." There was a point, he'd admit to that; obsessing over the hurt itself, letting it fester, would do no good for anyone. "It can be a reminder of what you're working for. Fighting for. A reminder that you're mortal... like everyone else feeling that hurt."

And then... and then. "We're pretty messy, you know? People. Living things. Everyone and everything with a heart. Perfect balance may not be possible."

There was a very short, very vaguely unwise sliver of time when Riku considered responding to the request to take off his shirt with a solid "No." Luckily the moment passed, though that didn't make the reality of fulfilling the request any easier. Forced to pay attention to the pain in the motion, to the blood already starting to dry and stick to the fabric--

He hated that feeling. Really hated it. Shame that distaste was drowned out by the additional sharp pain that trying to draw the fabric over his head instead. Well that shirt was ruined anyway, but taking a look at the tears and the stains just confirmed it. He imaged what Sora had to be seeing rather than turning to look at Sora's expression, letting him take the shirt, waiting for the reaction.

The sudden taste of hi-potion was not something he'd fully prepared himself for, but luckily the reflexive panic swallow kept him from choking. It also kept him from cursing or protesting for long enough to feel immediate relief. There was warmth at his back, soft, almost able to feel the touch that wasn't really there as the wounds closed and he let his extremely stiff back and shoulders relax with an exhale.

Not that it lasted long, seeing as how Sora had every right to lecture him. Wasn't that a thing. "Better, thank you." Could he get away with that? There was no way. Riku resisted the urge to glance back as long as he possibly could, trying to gauge the situation from the tone of his friend's voice alone. "It didn't really seem like a big deal."

Unlike quietly contemplating the idea that he might have very little problem lying to himself. That concept was going right in the mental dumpster, then.

Prompto was uncharacteristically, conspicuously, quiet. A little more still than was usual for him, too, but in the relative silence, his own swallow sounded like a loud interruption. He'd just sat himself down at Noct's side, not too close, not too far--

Thinking too much, basically, but Noctis' words kept him grounded even if the subject was still a sore spot for all of them. He took a breath to speak, then stopped. Swallowed again, cleared his throat, wishing there were anything he could say to fix things. That probably wasn't what his best friend was actually looking for, though. He breathed a little deeper than he had been.

"Kind of feels like a bad dream, yeah." Prompto agreed. He stared out into the water, all of the shimmering beauty feeling suddenly so cold. "That scary intense not knowing what to do feeling, y'know?" He glanced over. He'd practiced a lot of fighting drills, defense, a little survival. He was far behind the rest of them, sure, but he could see no one had been prepared for this. How could anyone be?

There was still a stunned numbness coating over everything. Maybe it was a good thing in its own way, but he wondered. "All I really know is... we're here. And that means we can make it right." Overly simple, silly, and achingly idealistic. Those were the kind of stories he liked, though.
